Are coming!!! I bet you weren't expect that... Our shipment of new items is inbound from AZL's Galactic headquarters. This mid-month will feature a couple of items we believe will be very popular. For that reason, we are going to hold off announcing new items until we have a chance to test and QC so we can verify quantities. Look for an announcement to come Monday, possibly Tuesday. I will update this thread with the new items once they are ready to go. And yes, I did this so you guys wouldn't have to remind us of the date tomorrow! LOL! Rob

I don't expect AZL to announce anything about Rokuhan...

So true. AZL, Ztrack and Rokuhan are all different companies. Though Ztrack represents both AZL and Rokuhan, we keep our announcements for these companies separate. So sorry, no Rokuhan announcements here!

Well, Micro-Trains had ZERO mid-month weathered announcements for Z this month, so I guess better late than NEVER.

This is really a nice surprise for all the SP and B&O fans. Best, Sven Unfortunately AZL’s supplier modeled the outside braced car not after the USRA prototype, but the ATSF class BX-38, which is a so called War Emergency Boxcar from WWII. Major difference to the WWI or shortly after produced USRA Single Sheated Boxcars are the breakwheel on the end rather than on the top, Bettendorf trucks instead of Archbar and some other minor differences. Also SP never used that type of door design. What a pity

Only SF is prototypical this way, correct? Best, Sven

Still buy them if you are happy, just not prototypical. AZL is doing this with many of their car releases, pick a particular prototype and apply all road names that more or less remotely looking like the prototype, good examples are the coil cars, modern reefer, waffle side gondola. It's scale of economics I guess (and some bad choices), not limited to AZL only. The War Emergency Cars where used or made by other RR, too: NP, Wabash, CNW, CN for example

This seams like a wonderful opportunity for someone who knows these cars and has etched parts for them to come out with a line of aftermarket upgrade kits. The doors would be an easy one since the AZL doors open and are easily replaced. Heck you could even color match and paint them for customers so all they have to do is swap out the doors. Yup sounds like a great opportunity to be part of a solution...

A quick comment to our 40´Outside Braced Box cars. As stated on our web site, we chose a generic design.

The War Emergency Cars where used or made by other RR, too: NP, Wabash, CNW, CN for example Not a pity at all, in my opinion. (ok, maybe a little bit of one ) While I share your desire for prototypical accuracy, I have other considerations such as COST that means I am willing to accept some compromise. I have considerations such as THE BIG PICTURE that means "hey, I realize that BNSF Coil Car is a foobie, but I need the variety it offers to create the overall look and feel of an appropriate fleet of freight cars on my layout. And right now I don't want to add yet another project to my considerable pile of scratchbuilding, kitbashing, and other modeling projects." Because, I also have the consideration of TIME and my 60+ hour work week just isn't compatible with the proverbial painting of myself into a corner. (or model railroading myself into a corner, as it were) You offer a great service for those that care about such things and are willing to pay for it. But, for what....1/3rd of the price, (?) I think a lot of folks can live with the War Emergency cars for SP with great detail and nice, crisp, quality pad-printed decoration.
