What makes these cars so special? I see there is great hype:-p Well, they're modern boxcars first of all...if you model modern, they are needed. Then TTX, which are some of the most prolific on the rails, easily identifiable, daresay "iconic". Whatever railroad you are trying to model, they fit in. Also, I believe they were only available in four-packs which keeps some buyers away...so either those that wanted fewer than four--or those that bought a four-pack but want one or two additional--now have an opportunity to be a customer. And the new coupler is probably a bonus too.

^^^^^. Agree with all of the above. I have a 4 pack already but ended getting two more just because. Now I can run them on more than one train in multiple cars.
It would be nice to see the standard TTX boxcar come out next. Hint, hint.

30 went to 20 when I saw the posting. For me it's the iconic look. I tend to want to model late 50's, early 60's PRR, but the newer locomotive releases by AZL are just too fine to pass up. So I was looking for more modern rolling stock as well. I'm ferreting out, or trying to find, some of the MTL 70' Gunderson TTX trailer train cars. Hard to find. But I'll keep looking. Certainly not as hard as finding that Marklin foundry...ouch.

And now they are down to 12! We are selling the packaging from the high-cube runner packs. You can find the boxes here: www.azldirect.com/partsRob

I have a chance to pick up the UP and BNSF Gunderson sets. Do those need to replace the coupler/trucks also? I would think so since they were released about the same time as the TTX sets. These are still in the box and supposedly never ran before. While I think about it, do other older AZL rolling stock need to replace their couplers? i.e. - trailer train, Gunderson deep well, 89' flat cars.

All of the Gunderson high-cube sets came with the non-AutoLatch couplers. These were the only cars AZL released with the first generation of coupler.
Of course we will be releasing upgraded single Gunderson high-cubes for the remaining road names in the coming months.

So all the old releases of Gundersons will be rebuilt with new couplers and released as singles - just like the TTX. Will there be any NEW Gunderson road names released in the future?
