Is there any difference between both, G7 and G9, or are they same? I know that G7 is having 1500HP and G8 is 1750HP, what are the other differences?

Yes there are. The GP7s and GP9s are similar, but there are visible differences on the body of the locomotive. I am not an expert, but I can point out one difference that is easy to see. Note the fans behind the cab. The first 3 locos are GP7s and have dual fans. The 4th loco is a GP9. note the larger single fan. AZL has captured this detail with the 2nd run of GP7s/GP9s. Rob

Henry, The EMD GP's are all similiar, particularly if you don't look to carefully at the lengths. The main differences are the road and region specific: vent grills and fans, dynamic brakes, fuel tanks, cold weather hatches, etc. What impressed me with the AZL GPs at Denver last year were the options they're modeling. A good quick reference I've found is: www.thedieselshop.us/DataEMDIndexRS.HTMLBTW: Any update on a schedule and roadnames for these gems? Mark

If your looking for quick visual differences outside of different fan size and configuration, look at the louvres'. For example and depending on the phase, a GP7 will have three sets of louvres below the cab on the battery boxes, and 2 vertical pairs of louvres' below the rad. shutters (back of long hood). The GP9, depending on phase, had either no louvres', one set or a small partial set of louvres' below the cab on the battery boxes; depending on the phase, 4 or 6 sets of louvres' on the engine room door panels (behind the cab) and one set of louvres below the rear shutters. Also 48" fans vs. 36" fans, there are some sill and tank mods but louvre sets are most noticeable.

I would like to see CNR and CPR added to the GP7/GP9 roadnames.
