Mark, motor is not visible in RDC. The floor level is high enough to hide it almost completely. I think that idea of window shading is to hide PCB that is located exactly in the center of car at the window level and clearly visible. Digitizing of RDC with A059 allow to remove stock PCB completely, however some wire added instead of it.
As for battery powered interior lighting: some may disagree with me, but I think that this is a totally weird idea with a lot of obvious disadvantages. First, the fact itself that something on layout is powered by battery, while everything else by external constant power supply is absolutely irrational, as for me. Any kind of battery power source (AAAA, button) that will last for at least an hour will need a lot of space inside any passenger car and it ruins the basic idea of lighting. And keeping in mind the fact that light will dim with time as the battery will drain is a nightmare I think. I don't even talk about ability of switching on and off the lighting and recharging or replacing the batteries.
So the only reasonable way of adding interior lighting (for those who really need it) is modifying of trucks and installing analog or digital lightboards. RDC is very convenient for this purpose because it already has a power inside.

Hi friends, For those who want to digitize AZL's Rail Diesel Car I found an interesting solution. Actually there's no dedicated decoder for this vehicle except Digitrax and TCS solutions (still with some soldering work), but they don't offer extra functions like sound or interior lighting. By the way, I wonder why AZL do not cares about interior lighting in their passenger rolling stock like many other manufacturers in other scales - it would be great to have at least possibility of installing such upgrade kits (remember Rokuhan products). Not so long ago Rokuhan announced A059 universal DCC interior lighting board that not only switch headlights and taillights, but can also work as a locomotive decoder too. It's quite unique solution due to its features and size. In addition, it is quite cheap. PCB can be reduced to many different sizes by cutting various number of segments. The smallest size fits in small German rail bus (Marklin 8831) and old passenger cars with the same size. After cutting one segment A059 decoder perfectly fits in AZL RDC. Easy wiring and very little soldering work allow to convert RDC to DCC very quickly. 5 remaining LEDs after cutting PCB are enough for smooth interior lighting. After wiring decoder can be easily attached to the shell with 1 mm thick double-sided foamed adhesive tape. No need to continue the story, just look at the pictures. Regards, Alex

First, I can directly ship worldwide. Then, some dealers in Europe already distribute my locos: www.1zu220-shop.de/Zmodell:::1100105.htmlI also discussed this question with Anthony from Zscalemonster.com, but since a demand of European rolling stock is unknown in the US, it's still a subject of negotiations with him. However he already sells some of my items: www.zscalemonster.com/zmodell/Regards, Alex

domi, I also just thought about brass from AZL. However all these brass models have a known 'weakness' - their price range is out of reach of the most buyers. For comparison, even a super-advanced H0 models with sound decoder from Marklin cost way less than any brass model from AZL. I understand that high price of Z scale brass models is because of a small series production, but it doesn't change the fact itself...

Thank you very much!
It's a good idea about Little Joe, I like this loco too, but it's hard to find a suitable chassis for it due to the specific wheel arrangement. Even Marklin's GG-1 has a different wheel formula.
Theoretically, it's possible to develop a dedicated chassis for it, but such approach obviously needs a huge investment in development and manufacturing, and I expect that the final price will be too high.

Hello friends, Let me show you our latest and long developed project. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be in Altenbeken this year, so I'll show it here. Here is it - the latest and the greatest, the most powerful in the world in its class, and absolutely unique in Z scale - LKAB IORE! It is our most advanced model with extreme level of details. Locomotive is based on the two modified Marklin Ludmila chassis and available in both digital and analog versions. Each unit is motorized and equipped with its own decoder VELMO LDS161388-B. Here are some highlights: - Directionally controlled triple warm white LED headlights and double red taillights - Prototypical painting and lettering using industrial pad printing technology - Separately applied painted plastic parts: roof insulators, antennas, whistles, buffers - Separately applied metal photo etched and painted parts: window frames, wipers, door steps, stand in front of the cabin - Separately applied metal wire parts: door handles, handrails, brake hoses - Two types of couplers available - Marklin or MTL - Prototypically modeled bogies with exceptional level of details - Prototypically modeled and painted snow plow attached to the front bogies - Wheels painted in gray according to the prototype - Prototypically painted pantographs - Imitation of driver's cabin interior Locomotive has exceptional pulling power thanks to 8 driving wheels and two heavy chassis. Units are connected with a very close permanent coupler. Two painting schemes available - new (LKAB 133-134, shown on photos) and old LKAB 111-112 (will be shown later). Model is packed in professionally designed and printed packaging box. We also plan to develop suitable Fammoorr 050 hopper cars for this locomotive in the future to make a complete train: www.4rail.net/reference_sweden_gallery2_freightcars.php#lkab_fammoorr050 LKAB IORE in comparison with other locomotives. It is really that huge: In the package box: Video: Regards, Alex

Hello friends, I'm happy to show you my new model in Z scale - DB Cargo BR 155 electric locomotive in 'Traffic Red' color scheme. This is an exclusive model, no one made it in the Z scale yet. Here are some highlights and key features: - available in analog and digital version (modified version of VELMO LDS48568-I DCC decoder is used for digital version) - directionally controlled triple front warm white LED lights and double red rear lights (same lights as in DB BR 143) - a lot of external parts applied (handrails, window frames, roof equipment etc.) - enhanced pantographs with cross-diagonal bars (pantographs transfer a power from catenary for analog version) - driver's cabin interior modeled. - industrial quality pad printing technology for lettering (no decals!) Model is 3D printed and based on Marklin BR 151/BR 103 chassis. Lettering is absolutely readable and printed using pad printing technology - the same technology that is used in industrial manufacturing of train models. Windows are made from thin acrylic glass and milled on CNC milling machine. Many external parts are made from photo etched steel - window frames, vent grilles on the roof, headlight frames, front handrail and foot stand in front of cabin. All these parts are painted. Handrails are made from 0.25 mm steel wire and painted too. Roof equipment: separately applied and painted insulators, wires, discharger, pantograph control, antenna. Pantographs are painted and enhanced with cross-diagonal bars. They transfer a power from catenary for analog version (doesn't work in digital version). Model runs very smoothly and quietly (noise-reducing material is applied inside of loco's shell). The loco is packed in professionally made packaging, brochure with additional information is included. These photos are made by Jörg Erkel from www.1zu220-shop.de on his beautiful layout:

Hi Paul,
thank you very much for good news! Your Amtrak GG1 looks very nice! Have you thought about a catenary for your layout?
