I got lucky and picked one up. Was surfing just before bed and saw the BF special 35 minutes after it was posted. Couldn’t believe there was a Week 6, let alone a brass caboose…
Thanks has been an expensive Black Friday season this year.
Thanks Rob, Rob and Hans for the excellent BF selections.

I was going to wait for the SD-40s but can’t pass up that deal. Have engines for my BN and Santa Fe coal trains now

Wow. That is nice. Do you run that or is it just a wall decoration?

^^^^^^. Haven’t cleaned the wheels yet. I’m a bit nervous to take the trucks apart with my big monkey fingers. That said, I’ll give it a try.
But that doesn’t explain the very loud motors. Any idea there?
I’m not religious on cleaning the track tho spot clean when a see a dulll spot.

Thank you for asking this question as I’ve been kicking it around as well. Not that my stock locomotives have stopped running, but I have a couple SD70ACe and AC44s that are getting very noisy and stutter, or slow down on the track.
I use Marklin track with 195mm radius. Powered about every 3 feet. If I run F3s or 7s on the same line, they run fine. I am quite surprised how loud they are getting.

Thanks for the ideas. I was able to get the trucks to freely move by pulling the pin up a little bit. Haven’t run them yet. Also looks at the metal wheels as ZSM and they specifically say they are MYL replacements so I’ll give them a try.
Thanks.

Haven’t really gotten into the MTL rolling stock until recently. What I am finding is the flat cars and shorter box cars are derailing quite frequently. Most of the cars derailing have tight trucks so freeing up the truck is an obvious task. How do you do this? Take a round file and make the hole bigger? Add lubricant?
I understand the track may play into the derailing issue and will work to correct bad spots in the layout.
is there a benefit to change to metal wheels? I tried that on a hopper with AZL wheels and that didn’t seem right. There was more friction with the truck and they looked too big. Does someone may smaller metal wheels?
thanks

Dang, these F7s are really tempting me....
While my layout is not era or location specific, I still like to run the trains that way.. problem is I don’t see much for Erie Lackawanna rolling stock.
I know the era is mid 60’s, but what would be a good setup of 12-15 cars? I suppose some of the 1918 tank cars coming out, rolling stock from Pennsylvania, what else?

Ugh. I have the Marklin F7 set (which I don’t run anymore as AZL has taken over my set). Do I drop another $800 picking up the passenger line? I’m sure the Locomotives will sell out fast...

The wallet is safer for 15 more days.....
That’s a nice looking A-B set but what would you run with it? I don’t recall any Seaboard rolling stock. Could this be the beginning of another named train?
