While we are on the topic of RDCs, please do Alaska Railroad or ATSF again. I would buy at least one and maybe two.

Good afternoon,
This is meant to be a fun thread and provoke some thought. What are 3 pieces (locos, cars, etc.) that have been produced in Z-scale that you would like to have in your collection or on your roster. You could kind of think of as this as a Holy Grail type of thing (maybe UP Heavyweights) or something that is difficult to find, etc. I know that not very many years back, AZL made much more limited runs of things and I watched how they would sell out very fast. With me being pretty new at Z-scale, I have found pretty much everything I want at this point. I have a list of things I want but I have been focusing my buying on things that don't come up for sale very often. Like most of you, I have a somewhat limited budget. For example, I would like an AZL SD75M in BNSF colors, but I know these will available for awhile so, instead, I bought some Full Throttle cars from Rob that aren't seen for sale very often. Here are the things I would like to find/buy.
AZL 23,500 Tank Cars in UTLX scheme
Markin 88075 Commodore loco and tender
Micro-Trains BN Weathered Set w/SD40-2

Thanks for the heads up Trey....I will take a look at those.
I ordered one of the Rokuhan pin removal tools and once I get that, I will keep searching for a good solution for the power distribution.
Thank you for all of the input and I would welcome more; I will keep the group updated with what I find.

Good evening...thanks for all of your input. I went ahead and ordered a Gaugemaster. I just re-read Mark's post about the constant lighting from the Rokuhan controller and am a little worried about that. We'll see what happens. Thanks again.

Hey Mark,
I have seen terminal and unfortunately, the plugs on the lighting wires are much small than on the power and switch wires. Those larger plugs are a version of Molex connectors. I really wish they would make a terminal for power as well.

Rob...no bashing was intended. I was just surprised that it wasn't mentioned that an additional 16V was needed (not just on your site but on anyone's site). Can you tell me what issue has your article in it? Thanks again for your help.

Does anyone know the Accessory output voltage of the Rokuhan RC-02 and/or RC03 units and whether it is AC or DC? I can find nothing on any website that shows what it is.

Good point....I now see that it needs a 16V AC input. It looks as though ZTrack is the only one in the U.S. that sells these and I see nothing listed on their webpage for a power source.
DaveStubbs....what are you using for a power source?

Good morning....thanks for all of your input.
Dieselflux....I understand what you are saying about spending the $50 but I also know that with Z-scale, there is a price of admission in order for things to run correctly and not be a source of frustration. I have $600 in Z-scale locos (and very likely to go up) and maybe the $50 is well spent to make them run more reliably. Besides, $50 will only buy me one or two pieces of rolling stock.
DaveStubbs....I see that you are using Marklin track cleaning gondolas; do you have a preference to using them vs. an Aztec car?
I highly doubt I will ever go the DCC route so that is no issue for me.
Can I assume that AZL blesses the Gaugemaster as far as not being damaging to their locomotives?
Thanks again for your help.

Good afternoon....anyone have any experience with the Gaugemaster track cleaner? I am curious if they are worth the cost, how well they work, are they compatible with Rokuhan controllers, etc. Thanks for your input.

For those of you using Rokuhan track with their power connectors, what are you using for power distribution under the layout? On my layout, I would imagine I will have 8-12 power cords and I am looking for the best way to connect them all together. Photos would be awesome if possible. Thanks for your help.

For the guys using the pink (or blue) foam for you layout base...I am curious on how you run your wiring for power and switches. I am assuming you drill holes through the layout and run your wires through. I am using Rokuhan track and the power plugs and switch connectors are pretty big; do you drill a big enough hole to feed them through or cut them off and just have a small hole? Also, on the bottom side of the layout, do you carve recesses for the wiring to run or what do you do with that? I would like to see some pictures of the underside showing wiring if possible. Thanks for your help.

I sure hope the BNSF coalporters are the silver ones with the mineral red ends.
