Hi Scott, I picked up the American Beauty 105A3 with the foot pedal and tweezer hand piece on eBay, probably 5 or 6 years ago. Got it for around $250 or so. It's a 100 watt unit. John Raildig.com

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but if you want to have some fun and spend more money than you intended, a small resistance soldering unit with the tweezer hand piece is sort of amazing for all work around the rails while not melting any plastic. The solder joints are incredibly strong and produce a minimum amount of solder excess (blobs!) with no cold solder joints. Skipped a few meals to afford mine John Raildig.com

Rail height aside, you'd run in to a visual issue using PECO flex and Fast Tracks turnouts and that is the tie spacing. FT turnouts have more of what's been called a North American tie size and spacing while PECO is more along the size of Marklin track. You could shim the FT turnouts to take care of the height and do some heavy ballasting and weathering to camouflage the joins between the PECO and FT turnouts, but if you're going through the effort to make your own turnouts, I'd look at using Micro-Trains flex instead. I realize selling off the PECO track you bought isn't ideal, but given the work you'll be putting in I think it would yield the best results in the end. John Raildig.com

Hi All, Merry Christmas! We've just added an article over at US|ZSCALE on basic Mikado troubleshooting and thought you might like to have a read between opening gifts and pouring egg nog.

I'm going to blame this on a new software upgrade, really! The contact form software was updated and it overwrote the existing photo submission form. I've just built a new photo submission form, images can now be uploaded to us for inclusion in the AZL Customer Gallery. www.americanzline.com/azl-photo-gallery-submissions/Sorry for the hiccup! Mark, You made me laugh. I was hoping for somebody like John Cubbin or Rob Kluz who can make what he writes interesting to read. I'm not that guy. But thanks for thinking I could. James Very kind, thank you On a near-related note, it is very frustrating to get the DCC manufacturers to even talk about their own products as they relate to Z scale. I have approached, repeatedly, both Digitrax and TCS and put out the idea of doing a series on Z scale DCC with direct input from both companies. TCS just wasn't interested and Digitrax kept putting the idea off for future consideration, this goes back years. I'm not DCC-savvy and I thought a great way to approach a Z scale DCC article series would be from a from a beginner's perspective. While MR has been absent in large part from presenting Z except for the very occasional article, they're not the only ones who tend to overlook the Z audience and Z buyers. What's even more puzzling to me is when a manufacturer does make a product for Z scale and then don't seem to want to get involved promoting their work. John Cubbin Raildig.com

It does seem to go against model rail doctrine for many, but I think they're a lot of fun and look great. A favorite of mine are some Athearn F59PHIs. Definitely fantasy, definitely fun! John Raildig.com

Dom, Another possible alternative is to have a look at some eBay sellers who build and sell completed Fast Tracks Z turnouts. Given how good the FT turnouts work and look, it may be a viable option. John www.raildig.com(Yep, it used to be Ztrains.com!)

It seems Internet Explorer didn't like our embedded form! We've removed that form and added a simple link to the order page. Thanks for the IE heads-up.

There's a "Buy Now" button right under the road number drop-down selector. Once you choose the road number, you then click the "Buy Now" button. See graphic attachment. Attachments:
