That's what I was thinking. I might be able to best him too.

Ha, is it bad that I personally know more than 10 people that could best him? Back in September, when the attempt was recorded, Dr. Shumacher said this: “My wife would only agree to what would fit under a coffee table,” he smiles in regard to his Z-scale collection. “I actually have about 6,000 cars and 1,000 engines in total, but some of that isn’t Maerklin, so I didn’t bring them.” So, I think he's talking pure Marklin, although the new article I linked from today's SLO newspaper indicated "largest model train collection. The previous article said largest collection of non-duplicated Marklin rolling stock and locomotives: www.newtimesslo.com/art/14362/slo-resident-bernd-schumacher-sets-a-guinness-world-record-for-the-largest-collection-of-zgauge-model-trains-on-sept-17-at-bedas-biergarten/Funny how that September article said 3160 and now today's says 2956. I wonder if the 200 delta were items that were deemed non-Marklin items.

It is a rare model railroader who can claim that they have enough trains.
Many of us are hoarders.
There are those who can get rid of items that do not work in their era.

Rode the real deal back in 1958 when my folks moved back to VA from CA. The pewter Zephyr pin the conductor gave me is still pinned to my hat. Keep still my beating heart. I may just have to buy that model!

The model isn't the greatest. It uses toy train hook couplers, the locomotive is a 1980s designed power plant. But the metal plating on the rolling stock is fantastic and truly unique.
I used to wave to the east-bound train from my schoolyard in the early 1960s. Frequently got a response from the engineer or staff in an open dining car door.
