I'm curious what loco can pull the most cars? Just one loco
I just ran my sd75i with 50 assorted frieght cars behind it some azl some Intermountain and some mtl
It did really well. The tightest corner was 245r and it crossed many switch tracks along the way never got stuck or slipped once even crossed the double slip with no issues
Anyway curious what our guys thoughts were in this topic Thanks Chris

The AZL GP7's Pull pretty good. This one ran all day Saturday and Sunday at a show pulling 87 cars.
Its double headed in the video But earlier that day I had one AZL GP7's pulling this string by itself. After running the better 1/2 of a day it started to slow a bit at one end of the layout where we had a 90" bend to the left going into a 180* bend to the right going into a 90* bend back to the Left Followed by a 180* Balloon end loop.

Chris, You know it would sure be nice if manufacturers of locomotives would publish drawbar pull. I've been able to pull 13 AZL heavyweight passenger cars(with car weights installed) with an AZL Mikado. With diesels I don't concern myself with the pull. In the proto world they're generally run in consists of 3 or 4 units. Just think what Dave could be pulling with 4 SD70s. The only time I see single units is with trains of only a half dozen or so cars. Mark

We run mostly SD70's and MTL GP35's at shows. 2 will pull 30-70 car trains all day (but really pushing the slip factor with 50+). The GP30's pull well too but most are used singley as switchers.
Grades are what creates most of the limitations. Small radii curves, especially S or multiple curves adds additional friction. MTL plastic wheels will add about 30% more drag too.

Ya I need replace all my wheels on the mtl stock. I really notice it when putting the trains on the track the azl wheels roll so much better As for grades I havnt gotten to play around with tem much as of this point.
