Well all my stuff are in shoe boxes. So I finally broke down and bought myself some oak lumber. To build myself a display/ storage and layout cabinet. It's about 5' h x 40" w x 21" d . I told my wife it was going to be small cabinet and she didn't care and it was great idea. Well i had the outer frame pretty well done and showed her what it was going to look like .Her reply was that's to big and were you going to put it. What do guys think ? Cabinet to big. I thought it was just about right, not to big or to small. Chime in your thoughts before final assembly . Remember happy wife, happy life! LOL. Bob I know what your going to ask ,where's the pic's. Hope to have some later.

I don't have a display of any kind. All of my trains are in parts drawers in plastic cabinets that all go to train shows with me.

I kinda went a cheaper route. IKEA sells a nice little display cabinet, with glass shelves, that mounts on the wall. I bought extra glass shelves to display all my engines and other bashed items. I hooked up one of their lights, at the top of the unit, to display at night. It measures about 4'+h x 1.5'w x 8" d. Already has rows of pre-drilled pegs holes so extra shelves can be added as needed. Comes with a glass door with wood trim -- looks pretty nice.

I use IBL cases for my Marklin collection. I have other assorted cases as well. The IBL cases are hung around the layout. Rob

Wow! Rob I see your retirement plan or 401 K plan has a lot of z scale in it. LOL Great looking lay out. Still looks like a little work in progress on it.
My layout when not in use will be stored in back of my cabinet. My house has over 3000sq ft but no room for a big layout. Go figure.

Bob P.S. try to get some photo's of my cabinet tomorrow or this weekend to post Thanks Bob, Well, the cabinet works for my needs at this time -- it beats keeping them stored in boxes. I really look forward to seeing your custom work! While motive power for the C&NW is slim, that's my preference. The majority of my display is split between UP and ATSF with a few midwest roads. Hoping AZL produces some C&NW motive power!!! CJHAYES
