I am a bit torn on this. Do I go red on the decals or orange to represent one with some fade? All the photos I have of the 38s show faded orange logos. Any opinions?

I could always do an orange and add some weathering to the decal graphic, not too much though so it would work with a light loco weathering. John www.ztrains.com

They are red but look orange in photo. I would prefer red because I don't weather my engines .

Thanks for that photocopy, I'm now using it as an additional reference. I'm going to post up some proto photos as well as some of the artwork I'm finishing up. Hope to have this posted tonight. John www.ztrains.com

Ok, I think I'm close here... As far as color, I've sampled a cross between the Atlas model and a real loco photograph. Of course the real loco photo is probably not color corrected... so my color is a bit of a guess. I'm guessing the decal sheet is of later paint schemes as the typeface is different than the GP38 prototype photos I've seen. In this photo for example the font has a slightly square feel to it, this is what I tried to duplicate. Last, the width of the large orange "M". Mine looks wider but I think this is something of an optical illusion. I created mine by overlaying the original logo on top of this for accuracy. Also, it will appear a bit tighter once reduced to decal size. Ok, I think we're close here... what do you think? John www.ztrains.comAttachments:

Oh that looks good! Real good. I like the orange since I am planning to go with a slightly weathered version. Interesting on the Atlas model. The show the logo on the front, but I have not seen this in any prototype photos. White strips on some, but not the logo. I am debating to go stripes or no strips.

Rob Rob They had a bunch of different paint schemes on the nose on some of engines had white warning stripes and some orange stripes and then nothing at all. Then just small M and at last small M on front with white v stripe that wrap the whole engine like super 7's

Bob they never did undec cabooses. BUT they did offer CNW bay window cabooses. These are the same cabooses the Mon bought from the CNW. I was thinking of taking my sample and weathering it and patching it for the Mon. See below. Yes, more GP7s are coming. Rob

But I 'm doing it in red last time it was painted before Conrail took over . Caboose no was 903 and another one can't think of # off top of my head. Thanks Rob
