Rob: I have been talking on here about Supertrain 2015 in Calgary. It would be a tremendous thing for this hobby if AZL were to come up here next year and bring your display booth and showcase what you guys are all about and what new ideas are coming down the pike. Sadly, none of the dealers who come to this show, bring any z scale product with them, (if they stock it at all). There are 4 train shops in Calgary and only 3 carry a smattering of z scale, but they hide it in their stores, and they don't bring any to the shows. It's like they are deliberately trying to keep z scale from gaining any kind of foothold up here. Of all the Z scale manufacturers, only Intermountain has displayed some z scale in the past, but that is more for comparison to other scales then anything else. Also, of the 4 z scalers in Calgary and surrounding area, I am the only one left who actively displays his layout. One guy has gotten out of Z scale, and the other 2 don't come to any of the shows. I would like to see all the Z scale manufactures come to this show. There are hoards of HO, N and other scale manufactures here every year, so what's holding up AZL? If people could actually see what you have to offer, and talk to you guys, there is a good chance that more potential modellers might take a harder look at Z scale instead of looking at one layout and saying, "It's too small". Rob, give this some serious thought. I've heard that Micro Trains will be here next year, so why not AZL? It would be great to see you guys here.

AZL I would also like to see you guys come to Calgary for a train show and to the owner of this post if I had known there were any z scalers in Calgary I would have attended the show this year to see your layouts I honestly thought I was the only one in Calgary who even knew what z scale was lol I will be coming to super train 16 to see your layout next year

Where in Calgary are you? Perhaps we could get together sometime and talk trains. You're welcome to come to my home and see my layout sometime. Are you a member of the CMRS? I will be on the layout tours in February 2016.

I live in S.E. Calgary and I'd love to see an actual z scale layout. I have never even met another person with z scale I have not built a layout yet just been collecting these little guys for 12 years ( a long time for my age haha and no sadly mom and dad never bought me any ) it would be great to meet you one day and possibly join you to watch you working on your layout I'm sure I could learn lots from someone with experience this is going to be a big adventure stepping into such a small world with no actual building or painting under my belt. And sadly I don't know what cmrs stands for

Hey, I live in the SE too. Lynnwood Ridge behind the strip mall at the top of the hill on 18th St. Give me a call sometime at 403-601-6912. Name is Ken. I have a working layout that I've been adding onto and I'd love to have you come over and cop a boo at it. I'm going to be starting a new module this September or sooner. CMRS is the Calgary Model Railroaders Society. They have over 800 members in and around Calgary. I'm away this weekend to Red Deer, but I'm going to be around next weekend, perhaps we can get together then. Where in the SE are you? I've got over 25 grand invested in my layout so far including lumber, hardware, wiring, and so on, much to my wife's unhappiness. Women, what do they know? My layout spans almost our entire basement and it's get's bigger every year. My group is the Foothills and Western Z Rail Assoc. My son and his friend are part of the group as well. We always have room for more members. Come and see for yourself.

Awesome We live 5 minutes walk from each other I'm on Ogden road on the end closer to Lynwood. It's funny so far my girlfriend approves of the trains due to the "cute" factor of z scale and even if that wears off I had the trains first lol. That's great you passed it on to your son and that he got his friend into it glad to know it still growing in popularity. How old is your son? I'm only a young lad at 21 myself. I'm really looking forward to seeing this layout and meeting you that's sounds like an incredible feat. I'll look into that cmrs see what there all about most groups are ho or n scale so I never took any interest in Calgary groups

My son is 38 and his friend is 35. I haven't passed my layout on to him yet, it's still in my basement but he is what I would call an associate member of my group meaning he helps out when and where he can but is not a steady member. Neither is his friend. The CMRS encompasses all scales from z all the way up to 1\2 scale. Most of the members are in the lower scales, but there are some, like the Iron Horse Park in Airdrie who belong to the group. There are also folks who scratch built models, do landscaping, and give lectures on other aspects of model railroading. I've been a member just over 4 years now. We have all kinds of activities through the year including a flea market in Feb, and last year we did a bus tour to the Central Alberta Rail Museum. They publish a newsletter every month from September to June and members get a copy of it. Looking forward to meeting you. My layout right now is 35 ft by 8 ft. and growing.
