I just received my first Rokuhan double track set and was debating which controller to get . Then I read about hoppy504 having trouble with his RC-02 control. Is Rokuhan crap? I was looking forward on building 8' layout and just using Rokuhan products. Bob

I do not think my RO-02 experience reflects on the companies products, my layout is all Rokuhan track and I am very happy with it. I am receiving very good communication from Japan, trying to help.
I am sure other users will confirm good service from this firms products.
John.

There's another thread about power controllers just a few days ago ( azlforum.com/thread/297/power-controllers) ... Rokuhan is certainly not junk; in fact their controllers are some of the best slow-speed capable controllers available (I ranked them 2nd on my list of 8 z controllers simply based on slow-speed operation). When held in the hands, the lightweight construction may lead you to think it is lower quality; but once you are running the trains you will see a solid controller operation. I tend to believe that there was simply a batch of RC-02's that had an issue, beyond that their products are solid.

Frank is right. We are a distributor for Rokuhan and have found them to be a very reliable company and quick to take action. There was a small batch of RC02s that had problems. We worked with Rokuhan to identify the issue and replace units for any customers that has issues. We now handle all support for Rokuhan in the US and can safely say you are covered should a problem occur.
Incidentally, we test run all AZL products on Rokuhan track and transformers. Due to the high reliability of the track and transformers, we know if a loco has issues, it is the loco, not the track and power. We definitely stand behind the line.

Bob, I've been very happy with Rokuhan track: the turnouts and double slip have proven to very reliable, turnouts can be power routing and they offer a very wide selection of track. I like my RC-02, I haven't had much time to play with it, but it feels good and I like the snap on accessory switches. On the down side, the power routing turnout screws are a bit of a pain, but I can't think of a better solution and I like the power routing option. You do have trim the roadbed going into the divergent route of turnouts. The instructions are good and it's not that hard. There is always the comments on the tie spacing, but I've found with a bit of weathering of the roadbed and a light layer of Z scale ballast, it's not really noticeable.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Thanks Guys It's nice to hear just a problem with a few control units. I ran for years with MTL track with no issues. But want to try a new lay out with all Rokuhan. To go with that new AZL ES44AC heritage Monongahela loco which Rob K is releasing first when these units become available .(hint hint hint, cough hint ,hint) Bob

Ok looking at curved switches or turnouts RO 26 and RO 57 look the same. What little thing is different ? They don't give much info out. Bob

Bob,
The RO26 is wooden ties and the RO57 is concrete ties (PC in the Rokuhan description). You'll want to watch this when ordering since Rokuhan has produced most of their section types with both tie styles.
