Update: Miracles of miracles I found the missing knuckle! I was able to resemble the coupler, but in doing so, I popped the truck frame off the pin and had to pop the whole frame off. Boy, the pick-ups fell off and that really put my 50 year old eyes to the test.
However, now the locomotive moves a few centimeters and stops and the same backwards. I'm sure the gears are binding now. Any advice on how to fix that would be appreciated.
Welp, it was inevitable. I dropped and lost the knuckle half of my coupler (from an AZL GP7) while experimenting with the Rokuhan MTL compatible replacements. I can not find it! I've gone through the azldirect site to no avail. Is my only option to purchase a replacement truck?

Yep...or try to replace it with a MTL coupler.

Hello! What is the locomotive? We have had trucks for GP7s, GP30s, GP38s, and SD70s in stock.
Here is a trick I learned when I have to rebuild trucks. Once you have it assembled, twist the truck. Yes, twist it. I find this helps to get everything aligned properly and popped into place.

I've had some success, but there is an odd clicking sound that sounds like a baseball card in the spokes of a bike and it'll stop dead and needs to be reversed before it'll go forward again. If I were to guess, sounds like a gear is jamming up. All of the wipers and contacts are where the should be. Any advice on reassembling the trucks? I need little hands on the end of my fingers to hold everything in place while snapping the frame back on to get it all lined up correctly

With the shell off and with a magnifying headset, look very carefully at the gears that are in the truck frame for clearance to the truck frame that you disassembled. Also, if the truck doesn’t swivel freely, that’s probably other part of the problem as pulling the truck in and out (same as twisting the truck can lead to “burrs “and may be forcing the truck to ride a little lower than the worm gears where it’s needed (which you really cannot see that contact through frame).

I've got this engine back to running satisfactorily (there's still a slight rubbing sound, but I can live with it. Though I don't hear it when the shell is off and I can't see any obvious interference.) All in all I'm happy with it.
