Since I had issues with my turnouts (they behaved like subject to "programmed obsolescence" and failed after some time), I was planning to remove them all and only run a double railcar on a "topologic" oval ; today I tested the Tortoise, it seems to be more reliable and cause less issues than I thought first ; so, maybe that I will keep the 4 turnouts (equipped with Tortoise's or perhaps MTB's MP1) in the town station, this will allow running the Budd, a freight train with 5 cars + caboose and the "sand delivery" train with 6 33' hoppers + caboose pulled by a "dual" loco (preferably F3 A + B or 2 GP's in MU configuration), the dead end track is long enough ; all the way the village station will stay with only one passing through track (like many protototypical village stations in the 60's), it will not be modified again : all the way the plate could not be easily accessed from beneath to put the actuators.

The turnouts were from 2017 - 2018, but very few in use, since most time I worked on the scenery ... Meanwhile Rokuhan had the issue with the left turnouts ... which caused derailments !

Don’t you want to swap these Rokuhan turnouts with other brand ? Atlas for example ? Or make your own Fast Tracks samples ? Too sad to drop a whole wonderful layout just for issues on a few turnouts, isn’t it ?

Meanwhile I tested a Tortoise and a MP1 ; the MP1 seems to be better for me, I designed adapters in 3D-printing to connect it with the longitudinal "sled" of the Rokuhan turnouts (and it can switch the frog too, the tracks being switched by the relays) ; I must now first order them at Shapeways (in bronze, wax casting ! ). About other brand of turnouts : the optical design is too different from Rokuhan, and it would look ugly ; in worst case I wouldn't drop the whole layout, only the freight trains and limit to passenger traffic. I remember my Märklin HO layout in the 60's, it was basically an oval with a tunnel and only one station with a divergent track in the station around the plattform, so to say useless, because at the beginning I had only a freight train (BR24 and some cars) !

Why don't you make Rokuhan send you some updated turnouts?

Are they really "updated" ? Or will I have the same issues in a few years ? No, thanks !

Sorry guys. This is truly not a Rokuhan issue. If you go back through the threads, you will see why. I have been selling and using Rokuhan turnouts for 10 years now. They are extremely solid and reliable, as long as you use their controllers and electronics. Deviate from that, and there are no guarantees. I hate seeing good products disparaged when there are no known issues.
