Hi there,
my ALCO RS-2 unfortunately has problems with derailments of some cars in radius 195. The fixed couplings are unfortunately not beneficial. Is there a solution for this ?
Many greetings, Harald

Hi there, my ALCO RS-2 unfortunately has problems with derailments of some cars in radius 195. The fixed couplings are unfortunately not beneficial. Is there a solution for this ? Many greetings, Harald Yes. I have an AZL Labs developed solid coupler that does not have centering springs in development. Pro: reduces derailments of certain cars on tight radius curves Cons: requires manual coupling and uncoupling. Made of SLA printed resin, so will have a shorter life expectancy than plastic, but we will include extra couplers so mid life replacements are included. Release date: expected in January 2022 Cost: nominal for postage. Alternative: switch to MTL couplers. Due to their design, they have more rotation in the coupler box that should improve performance against derailments vs our AZL AutoLatch couplers. Cheers Rob

Thank you very much!
Which MTL couplings fit the locomotive?
Greetings,
Harald

I run a hopper directly behind my RS-3s with 2 or 3 6-32 nuts under the coal load. No more de-rails on corners.
Merry Christmas. Ed

The 905 coupler is all they have. It’s preassembled but is not a ‘drop in’. You will need to trim the RS plastic, make a mounting hole (see MTL Part for Drill and Tap) plus shave the back of the coupler box off (just the thin back wall and not the components inside). See the link for MTL’s site for the exploded coupler [that you will NEVER, EVER want to put together] to get a feel about just how thin and the 905 coupler at the beginning of the page. micro-trains.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=75_115
