I was installing some of the MCZ 401 Maersk containers in the MAXI's. A few notes for all: The containers have the same 'orientation' of the Maersk label, so you can be confused which end is which when stacking. Make sure you have both rear doors or both fronts (noticeably different). The containers are NOT all the same length so the stacking pins will get mangled. I cut the top ones off so I can put the top container 'centered'.

They include brass bottoms. These are for the Tractor-Trailer offered so for the MAXI's, they don't do anything so you don't need them. However, if you put the 2 of them on the bottom, they'll add 2.5g, maybe help a *little* on the lower center-of-gravity The strips are taped outside the plastic Zip bag. To remove the tape, hold one end and pull the tape completely flat in the opposite orientation, so you don't bend the brass: They won't fit (until you trim off the etching frets on each end. I filed them off.

The strips include a random piece of double-sided tape, which doesn't cover evenly so a random area will make contact. To install them, note the flat area on one end that goes to the front of the container (for the trailer rig) but hey, no-ones looking Holding it flat, note the 2 sidewall lines. place one end about 1/3 of the way down and start sliding it it. It may want to pop out, because the sides are slightly bowed in (yeah, and you can see that when they area stacked). Side the brass sheet to the to the end and look at the other end, which will need a little help to press it down in. I use a 1/4" ordinary screwdriver. Make sure it is seated all around and then do it again for the second brass sheet (if you want).

When stacking them, because some pins a damaged or the Container size/bow alters the alignment, I Xacto the pin off. Here are 2 images of the pins:

On the bottom Container, I then put a micro-drop of styrene glue towards the inside of the container hole (so that it won't squeeze out) and, on the inside corner of the upper container (that will slowly flow down to meet the bottom container's glue. Oh, forgot to put in the example of the warped walls, that add some friction when installing the brass strips: (I'd have to redo all the text because only to pix per post !!!!

Thanks for the well photographed documentation. How do you/do you plan to attach them together in double stacks? Temporary adhesive? Permanent adhesive? Magnets?

Not sure what you are asking. For the 2 containers together, drops of glue between. (see a few post behind) For these well cars, where the container pins don't match the well holes , I used double-sided tape at each end (so they can be taken out).

I've read where some N-scale guys have been using magnets in they're containers for easy stacking and removal. Metal in the ceilings of the containers, and a small magnet in the floors, so you can mix and match easily. I've seen them at the Dollar Stores for only $1 for some.
