Another favorite train movie would be "Unstoppable" with Denzel Washington, it was based on a true event. Dramatized of course...
I believe the main actors were played by AC4400CW's and SD40-2's

Sorry for Rray and Bloodynose : both movies came several (and even many) years after 1965 ! As the main movie I will use a "classic" one, even if it is "old" in 1965 : "Gone With The Wind", I can assume that the cinema shows "classic" and present movies ; and I found : - Alamo - The Sound Of Music - Cleopatra - Ben Hur (the first version, the one and only ... ) - How The West Was Won - The Greatest Story Ever Told - An American In Paris

Although originally released in 1940 and then locked away in the studio’s vault, it was re-released in 1967 to a huge fanfare! Lines went around the block at my local theater. We had, after all, just “celebrated” the Civil War Centennial a couple of years before, so the movie was sort of an encore.

Choosing a film for a theater in 1965 is actually a bit of a challenge. By 1965 all the TV networks had gone to all color, abandoning all the black and white movies and 1950s westerns and sitcoms. With a shortage of color programming, the networks were buying up the rights to all the color movies they could find that fit their format (< 3 hours, and right aspect ratio). So many movie rereleases disappeared from the the theaters to "Saturday Night at the Movies" type programs.
Movies like "Gone with the Wind" and the "Ten Commandments" didn't make the move to TV because they were too long. I saw both of these movies in the theater in 1967 (like neverland) and 1968. "Ben Hur", while a long movie was cut to fit the time allotted.
Movies that were filmed in wide screen, like "how the West was Won" and "Cleopatra", also didn't make it to TV until the advent of "letter box" and stayed in theaters until the 1970s. But the number of theaters they could play in were limited.
Disney feature length movies such as "Dumbo" and "Sleeping Beauty" are recurring possibilities as Walt believe they could be re-released every 7 years because there was a new young audience.
My suggestion would be a movie that released within a couple of years of 1965 or a 3+ hour movie. One last possibility might be that your cinema is an "art house" and shows foreign films with English subtitles. In that case may I suggest "L'Homme de Rio"

The cinema's painting is ready, I will add the decals ; and I am waiting for the "plaque with the name", it will be "PALACE". I designed it "flat", but I can't bend it, the plug-in for sketchup crashes ; so I contacted my local 3D-printing store to finish the design and print it in SLA.

In the larger towns and big cities, theaters would block off the entranceway with brass posts and velvet ropes (often red or burgundy) until the ticket booth opened. Made folks feel like they were attending a fancy premiere. If it was a highly rated film, they even passed out programs.

The theater looks really good. It should fit into your town well. One thought though: it might be interesting to light the lobby, it’s so dark right now.

Well , if we haven’t driven Alberich crazy by this point, how about the “Great Locomotive Chase” Disney 1956. An old b&w that would have been a Saturday afternoon matinee for 50 cents in 1965.

Sorry, as You can see the decals of the posters are already in their places ; from right to left : Gone with the wind. Ben Hur Cleopatra. The greatest story ever told. How the West was won. The sound of music. An American in Paris. The Alamo. BTW, "Runaway train" (for friends of "Alaska Railroad" ! ) came only 1985. The cinema is already finished, I am only waiting for the name "PALACE", from my local 3D-printing store ... And I will TRY to put one or two women into the ticket booth (this will remember my "nightmare" of the " gazebo" to me" ) and about 20 to 30 people (thanks to the Bay and China ! ) waiting in front of the cinema.
