Hello all:
I have inherited a Märklin F7 that has not been used in donkey's years. It makes a horrid screeching sound when running on my test track. I think it needs a good internal cleaning, if that's possible and a lubrication following that.
Here's the question. What do I use to lubricate the engine? Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
As to cleaning the interior, would a series of Q-tips be suitable for removing dust, fuzz and other critters that may be living inside?
I thank you for your time and your constructive comments.
Cheers.

Hogger, May I suggest a good reference for reviving a Märklin locomotive: www.zscale.org/articles/revival.htmlI like using toothpicks to work out the crud. One needs to be careful with Q-tips. They can leave threads behind that are worst than what they clean out. I've been using Labelle 108 as a lubricant. Hope this helps, Mark
