I've searched in vain for a z scale swimming pool similar to the one in my backyard a friend & I enjoyed today. Hard as it is to find one in O or HO, Z just seemed impossible. Drawing on my 1:12 dollhouse background, I discovered an empty liquid ant bait tray makes a convincing community size pool. Cleaning it out thoroughly & then letting it dry, I painted it with several coats of aquamarine paint. I carved out a piece of foam & painted it to look like concrete. Then I dropped the tray down inside it. I filled it with tinted Scenic Water with just a few ripples. This isn't intended to be a tutorial but merely a suggestion that if you can't find what you're looking for in Z, make your own. I'll post some pics after the water sets up & I add a diving board & some babes.

Clever solution. Now the hard part: modeling the fat, bald, middle age guy out at the pool.

Look here (there are 2 versions). Unfortunately, if You click on the article itself, the picture doesn't appear (with Firefox).

I'm wrong, it looks like Preiser makes a set of beachgoers (88524) that includes the fat, bald guy. Alberich has an interesting source. They have some detail (like the pool ladder) that I wouldn't have thought of.

Actually I have that set of beach goers plus some sunbathing nudes. A couple of tables with outdoor umbrellas, a hotdog vendor cart, & an ice cream shop make for a great 50s/60s vignette.

Hotdogs and ice cream at a swimming pool? Better add guy with a mop and a bucket.

Hotdogs and ice cream at a swimming pool? Better add guy with a mop and a bucket. Absolutely! Those were the days! Now you need a picture ID and have to stow your valuables in a locker.
