I can remember when Thanksgiving was the start of the model railroading season. We'd get up early to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, not for the floats or the bands or the balloons, but for the commercials: www.bing.com/videos/search?q=american+flyer+train+commericals&view=detail&mid=3A6E0160227719BD4ED43A6E0160227719BD4ED4&FORM=VIRE" That was the point we knew what we wanted for Christmas. And when the commercials went to color and layouts first when modular, it was even better: www.bing.com/videos/search?q=american+flyer+train+commericals&view=detail&mid=68F8C6B84D714A24948C68F8C6B84D714A24948C&FORM=VIRE" If we were good during Thanksgiving dinner, the next day we'd get to go to the Hillsdale Sears to see the Christmas layouts in operation: all the new cars and engines. and mechanical wonders that loaded beer kegs or unloaded cows, or launched a rocket. And if we were really good, we'd go downtown to Talbot's Toys to see the layout their window. The strange twist to this story is that Macy's is all changed, American Flyer trains are gone, Sear's is all but gone, yet Talbot's is still there, selling their model trains. Happy holiday to everyone celebrating Thanksgiving, and to everyone else...it's almost the weekend. Mark

Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating! Today I will have the joy of sharing my trains with Thanksgiving guests. I sure am thankful for what AZL has contributed to Z scale. I would not have chosen to pursue it as I have had it not been for you guys.

Before my time a little, but how about that. So...who put the kitten on the track?
I'm thankful for all of the insight and thoughts y'all place here. I learn a lot. And I'm very thankful for the hard work AZL puts in. Thank you, guys!

Kenn, Happy to oblige. At one time half the guys on my elementary school class had a train layout in the garage, or spare bedroom or a layout that slide out from under the bed. And after the turkey was gone we would all be talking about the new items when we got back to school: Mark

My grandson, who's seven & lives to play video games, is getting The Polar Express (Lionel) from me for Christmas in hopes I can spark an interest in model trains.
