Hello,
Can anyone direct me to some maintenance videos for the AZL locos? It's a little bit scary to open up a nice looking locomotive for the first time when not really having a clue on where to start. I'd especially appreciate a video of the opening up of a SD70M as one or two of mine are not running that well. I have seen the written description that's available e.g. at Zscalemonster on how to mount the plow but I'm much better of grasping what to do when being able to watch someone doing it first.
What I'm looking for is something like this:
Thanks in advance, JB

There are two different chassis for the AZL SD70M. You most likely have the later version. You can tell by the motor. Later version has the 12V version.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that hence my possibly strange answer...
They're about 2-3 years old if that gives a better indication.

Thanks shamoo, some interesting reading there. I think I'll just have to have a go at opening one of my locos up and hoping I won't ruin it to badly.
What was interesting though is that I've not been thrilled about how my SD70s run but I think I just need to run them for a longer time to really break them in, good news.

Don't open it up unlesss you have to. The fuel tanks are very brittle. I suggest Cleanning the wheels and add Labelle #8 oil to the trucks. I have more suggestions find this fails.

Ok, I would like a plow but I can do without it if the locos run better after some more running time.
Thanks for your help shamoo, much appreciated.

You know installing the plow has no bearing on how it runs.

You know installing the plow has no bearing on how it runs. Yes, but I think I'd need to open it up to install the plow, right?

No you don't. Pop the front chassis clip, and remove the front truck. Cut out the coupler box from your spare truck. Install the truck and pilot.
