Thanks for any additional suggestion ... Switch to DCC and make it easy and reliable?

Would AZL consider replacing their light board with a DC/DCC dual mode decoder? Sure would save us a lot of time and trouble. Not likely. It would increase the base price of all of our locomotives by more than $40.

I don't know how new this is, but while I was at The NTS I saw this
Tommy Keyes View Attachment This is really for Marklin locmotives. AZL will run fine at 12 volts, so do not need a DCC voltage reducer. Just set the DCC system for N scale.

I really like the NYC smooth sides! I hope the colors match (or at least coordinate with) MTL Thanks for making my day... I hope they will coordinate with the Commodore Vanderbilt. I'll switch out the tender coupler! 😊 I cannot guarantee that they will match. We matched to the original NYC colors. Not sure what our competitors match to!

Yes, please let us know if there is a list for preorder. Locomotives to be made are 600, 604, 607, 610 and 611 604 and 610 are only available with passenger cars (a set of 5 coaches, 1 diner, and 1 round end observation car) 611 is available as a stand alone locomotive, or with a set of passenger cars (unique road numbers on the passenger cars packaged with the 611) All passenger cars are painted in the Powhatan Arrow livery. Send Rob Kluz an email ztrack@aol.com to be put on the list. We will have more updates on the proper reservation process later, but an email will keep your place in line for now. And thanks for the support!

They will be in Powhatan Arrow colors. (Exception will be the N&W dome car, which will be offered as an add-on to the Powhatan Arrow sets. The dome did not actually run with the regularly scheduled train, which is why it is an option. Dome cars that are produced, but not taken by the set owners, will be made available for individual sale.)

Not completely on topic, but I've changed to a new formula for all my track work:
Open frame construction with Lauan hardwood flooring plywood for the tracks. IBL cork roadbed attached to the lauan with liquid nails construction adhesive. Atlas flex track attached to the IBL cork with Weldwood contact cement.
Both adhesives have excellent longevity, and retain some flexibility over their lifetimes. They also cure within minutes and allow exceptionally rapid construction. They are also adorable and easy to get at Home Depot or lowes.
The IBL cork is actually surprisingly affordable as is the atlas flex track.
After that I airbrush the tracks with dark brown paint, wipe the rails clean, and then ballast.
