Dear All, I was wondering if there would be interest to have a thread that is explicitly dedicated to the brass articles produced by AZL. Especially the ones from the early days of AZL demand for a completely different maintenance than nowadays locos, but there are only a few people out there who still know how to deal with them or how to repair them. A lot of the locos are in the meanwhile in the hand of collectors, but even they may have questions (like the very good one I saw here in the forum: azlforum.com/post/10162 ) In addition, one could share here when and where some of these searched after locos appear for sale. What do you think? Best, Sven PS: Shall we allow non-AZL brass on the thread as well? E.g. from Gerd or Gerard?

I don't know if they are still servicing locos, but the Stiskas are very good. The only problem is that they don't work on dcc, so you need to convert it back to dc first.

Sven, I think under the category brass should only fit "casted" AZL brass, my stuff is made from nickel-silver etched parts and as far as I can remember Huet's stuff, too.

I think a forum section dedicated to AZL / RLW Brass is a good idea. While it may not see a ton of post it would be useful to have one dedicated place to find Tuneup / Repair tips as well as pictures of these Rare models. There Is some info on AZL Brass available at American Z Line under Archive at the bottom of the page. And Their's also a little info in some of the older Z-track magazines and in a few post here and there on various other forums. But what I've learned over the past week is finding this info isn't easy and takes hours of searching and reading useless post. (The D&RGW Alco PA1/PB1 wasn't the only AZL Brass I scored at the show last week ) So how bout it Admin any chance we can get a Forum for Brass? Also Rob K Any chance we can persuade you to put together and post a database listing which articles can be found in which issues of Z-track Magazine? Having some place to find out what articles are in which issues would be helpful to many of us and might help you to sell a few more back and/or future issues.

We could use this thread, couldn't we? And if we get more post than expected, then Rob may consider a full section ??!! Let's start the first topic; Jun 21, 2017 23:36:07 GMT 2 Commodore said: The foam definately would stick to the model, ...but I feel like the plastic wrap is there to prevent this. The plastic could stick, but not like the foam. That said, I would keep it sealed, as it is. ... you won't be disappointed!
They weren't the best runners, for sure.
I would personally pay quite a premium for them sealed as they are.
They will remain sealed in the plastic wrap and in the boxes for the time being. At Least until i decide which set / sets I'm going to sell.
That is how they look like if you dare to unpack them: BTW, at least this one is an excellent runner (thank you, Aaron!)

However, coming back to the discussion of matching colours, the ALCO PA/B1 seems to be more orange than yellow, especially if you connect her with the new heavyweights ( azlforum.com/post/10106 ); The MTL F7 appears to be a little bit less orange, but still not as yellow, yellow as the heavyweights. Best, Sven

WOW they look great there on your layout. And that is Quite a color difference, But Hans did say they were going to release the F3's in matching Bumblebee paint. So I guess i will be ordering a set of them as well.

Best, Sven Thanks Sven You answer my question from another thread on color match of MTL F7 with the new AZL heavyweights with a pic which is even better . Sven do you have the Heritage SD70ACe DRGW ? If so post pictures with new heavyweights. A modern pulls the old .

But what I've learned over the past week is finding this info isn't easy and takes hours of searching and reading useless post. I think it is up to us to assemble all information at one place! For the ALCO PA1's AZL's archive lists them as follows: AZL ALCO PA: AZL # Model Production Road Name Road Number 1829 PA1 2001 | 40 Produced NYC 4200, 4201 1821 PA1 2001 | 40 Produced SP 204, 205 1823 PA1 2001 | 12 Produced DH 16,17, 18, 19 1827-2 PA1 2001 | 18 Produced PRR | Brunswick Green 5756, 5757, 5758 1828 PA1 2001 | 50 Produced D&RGW 6011, 6013 1824 PA1 2001 | 60 Produced UP 604, 607 1827 PA1 2001 | 50 Produced PRR 5752, 5755 1825 PA1 2001 | 60 Produced ATSF 52, 53 1826 PA1 2001 | 16 Produced LV 1826 3827-2 PB1 2001 | 10 Produced PRR | Brunswick Green 5750B, 5756B 3828 PB1 2001 | 24 Produced D&RGW 6002, 6012 3829 PB1 2001 | 12 Produced NYC 4302, 4303 3827 PB1 2001 | 20 Produced PRR 5752B, 5754B 3821 PB1 2001 | 18 Produced SP 6005B, 6010B 3824 PB1 2001 | 16 Produced UP 604B, 605B, 607B 3825 PB1 2001 | 40 Produced ATSF 51A, 52A, 62A 3828P PB1 | Powered 2002 | 3 Produced D&RGW 6002, 6012 3824P PB1 | Powered 2002 | 1 Produced UP 604B 3825P PB1 | Powered 2002 | 4 Produced ATSF 51A, 52A, 62A 2847 PA-PB-PA Set 2002 | 8 Produced PRR | Brunswick Green 5756 -5756B - 5758 Then you can link that with Anthony's data base and you have pictures and original selling price as well. There is not much one could add except your own experience, EBAY-, stories and real life pictures........... www.zscalemonster.com/azl/pa1/pa1.htmHope this helps, Best, Sven
