WOW really hope they run better than any other brass release. So much for the $699 target price stated at preorder during Portland NTS. I know brass costs more but really hope they run smooth.

The original quote from our manufacturer went up. That is the main reason for the jump. Also, no exact dates for the J. Hope to have a prototype this Summer.

The AZL direct price is $999. If I am not mistaken, pre-orders already amounted to the overall production run, did they not? Anyway, given the average price of 2nd hand brass locos on the after-market, 1k bucks for a brand new one still sounds as a fair price to me. Brass is the new gold

Not yet on the AZL Direct site. This weekend's show in Sacramento, California would have been a great place to show it off too. The UP ES44's will also miss it by 1 day later delivery. Once I get the ML-400, I'll place it at the Niles Depot in Fremont, CA. The Niles Canyon Railway is restoring one. sp9010.ncry.org/ It was painted to a mirror finish a year ago and last year, the German's supplied a *complete* new transmission for it. We'll see how well it rides on the 1900's rail curves that the Pacific can no longer manage (tight curves).

Will they be distributed by AZL Direct only, or can I get one via my authorized dealer in germany?

Locomotives are also available through dealers, taken that the dealers have preordered. I would advice to check as soon as possible if your dealer has ordered locomotives.

But not ready yet, AZL was faster ..... Best, Sven

UPDATE - The Krauss-Maffei's are here in our Ztrack Distribution offices. Yeah! We are currently in the process of test running them and doing a break-in. These will be released officially with the mid-month new items.
If you have pre-ordered a Krauss-Maffei, we will be sending you an email once your units are ready to ship. Each of you who pre-ordered locomotives are guaranteed to receive your requested locomotives. If you like to reach out to us before hand, please email us at sales@ztrack.com. We are going to need to confirm your shipping address and payment option. We can do Visa, MasterCard or PayPal.
A very limited number of additional units will be made available at time of release. We are still in the process of deterring the final number. This will not be available until all pre-orders are confirmed and QC is complete.

If I may, what is there behind the decision to produce -in brass- such particular a locomotive? Perhaps a sentimental reason? I am not an expert of US models, but it seems to me the Krauss-Maffei is very unlike previously released AZL brass locomotives (GS-4, Alco PA1, EMD E8, Big Boy, Challenger etc., all of which were very common/popular at their times)
