First pics of the new photo series.... More to come!! In this photo session Dirk and I tried to catch the typical atmosphere of a small harbor/depot at the German coast line called "Nord Friesland". The set-up tries to simulate the activities between Dagebüll Mole and Niebüll in Epoche V. The rolling stock is as prototypically as possible for us in Z-scale. It is made by Märklin, SMZ, Freudenreich, Heckl, and some special cars by Sascha Braun, The Z-Customizer: www.zcustomizer.de .

Since Dagebüll serves the islands in the North Sea via ferry connections, during tourist seasons even Intercity connections make it to the Mole, allowing tourists to switch directly from the train to the ferries. (pictures taken in the late afternoon with real sunlight only!)

The specialty, however, is that all Deutsche Bahn (DB) trains end at Niebüll and a railcar of a local short line (NEG) manages the kilometers to the coast/depot/harbor. Here you see the railcar, a NEG T4, pushing the IC cars into the depot. (in the right lower corner, you see a region typical dyke gate, which can be closed during storms with high floods)

For most of the tourists, this ride is already part of the vacation,... since you can "conquer" the swamps and meadows of Nordfriesland by looking out of the window of your train......

The ride then ends at Dagebüll Mole,... .., where the NEG T4 usually waits until the ferries have arrived with returning tourists.

The blue and yellow ramps in the harbor allow the loading of cars and whatever else is needed on the ferries. The ferry you see here is an exact copy of its prototype in 1:220 (built by Peter Nolan)

However, it is most of the time only the NEG T4, which does all the work- Here you see it running in the dunes......
