...the shocking mess during the building phase of the module (some things never change ) ..... This "something modular" turned out to be a little depot located on an island in the North Sea. (I grew up on an island in the North Sea, so a lot of detailed memories) And since every depot there is a Harbor, it has a little harbor...... And since the tracks end there, it has a little shop for the even smaller locos. Without any problems, you can transport it to exhibition,..., place it on the kitchen table,...really handy! Here are some pictures from the construction period. Happy to comment on these in case you have questions; In Altenbeken, in April this year, we presented this little harbor/depot module to the public. pictures by Julian However, most of the people will not have noticed that this was the starting point, the nucleus, for something bigger............... ...the little module under very critical review eyes...... In the next post I will show you all the little details which you usually don't grasp during an exhibition (with many hundreds of visitors pushing along the layouts.....) Best, Sven

Let's start with the depot. It is facing the harbor, which means for a lot of picture hunters it is either not clear or overlooked. This is a shame since it has many good details there: Never forget, it is on an island,..., with a lot of fresh air to breeze..... In close vicinity to the depot are sheds where all goods make the transition from rail to ship or vice versa. Who looks at the back side of the shed? I guarantee, there was no picture taken of the back of this house. Although it is worth a glance, isn't it? At best, from the front........... ..hidden behind some trees.... Same with the tracks. One would expect that tracks are important for model railroaders. We never received any comments on that topic. The lanterns are illuminated I will continue with the loco shop. So, stay tuned please. Best, Sven

Is there a local model railroad fan club? Again through the backyard to the loco shop; .... as scenic as possible .... .... every day business looks different .... Take a closer look this is hard to believe this is z-scale; Did you notice the interior ......, .., even in the engineer's cabin ?? btw, good paint job by the shop on the island! Here the corresponding overview (as usual the depot didn't make it on the foto) ...... Oops, the harbor. Next time more about the harbor and a little attachment to it. You will like it....... All the best, Sven

Although one could get a first little harbour feeling already with the few centimetres on the right side, I was missing something. When i was a small kid everything lived in the rhythm of the ferries coming or leaving. Thus, without a ferry the layout appeared incomplete for me. So, I had long talks with Peter Nolan,...., and he built exactly the ferry I played on when I was so much younger than today.......... Next topic, some even longer talks with Dirk - how to connect the parts? We discussed two versions over and over again, but then decided to go with version 2. This picture taken during the construction phase gives you a good impression of the total scenery. Not much was added, mainly water, but it is perfectly sufficient to refresh all my memories... ....and may be I am not alone..... Here some details; A little bit of Green added to the layout... ...and some typical everyday pieces like bicycles or cars.... ....a background with the ferry ...... Not bad for the beginning, but those pictures are cruel. They reveal everything, e.g. we have to man the ferry. Do you know how many sitting Preiserleins it takes? How many cars? (a little weathering is not a bad idea as well) But the ferry alone would be quite lonely in the harbour. A clear No Go, .... Peter Nolan again was the genius who delivered the shrimpers. And I have to tell you, that was the finishing touch. Now you can smell the fish in the salty air blowing from Northwest over the Sea........... In the next post, I will tell you a little bit more about the time when the tourists invade......

Looks furniture enough to make it into the living or even dining room, or? (and not living a life in the cellar)
