Matt, Does the forward A LED ever go off? It's always on because I set CV49=32 (Headlight on in both directions) for testing. It's good to have a positive control. It will turn off in reverse if I set CV49 back to its default of 0. The headlight will also turn off if I toggle the headlight button on the throttle.

Matt, Seeing both lights on, I was starting to think you might be dealing with more than a programming issue.
I'm relatively new to DCC so if you get any information from TCS I hope you'll post. They may have a CV and a value to meet your needs that they have documented yet.

Sounds to me that you are over programming. I would do another decoder reset. Program each loco to a short address. Do a advance consist. Test and see if everything it's working. Shut down the cab. Turn the cab on again. Run the consist. The lead loco lights should be off. To turn on the lights, address the lead loco and turn the light on. Adressed the consist again. When you are running reverse, you need to turn the light off using the loco address. It's not the perfect solution, but it's a solution.

Well I was going to try your suggestion, but I first tried messing with CV29. The default is 6 and when I enabled the long address the system automatically added 32 to CV29 to make it 38. I tried just setting it to 32, and the consisting worked. Then I set it back to 38 and it still worked. So either I reset something or it was misconfigured. We have a another proven solution!
So It looks like we have the following options to disable the onboard lights. 1) Advanced consisting. 2) Electrical tape. 3) Function remapping. 4) Remove the LEDs from the board, which has risks.
