This morning I came down to my layout and discovered one of our little furry layout wreckers got ahold of my UP GP38-2. They threw it off the table and onto the concrete floor to where the shell came off and the front truck disassembled and broke.
the front couple broke off the truck frame and the couple is trashed. Definitely need a new one.
in my lame efforts to reassemble the engine, I have seemed to taken everything apart and now have a pile of parts that my fat fingers can't get back together.
is there an authorized repair shop near Cleveland or is it better to ship back to Dublin? I don't think I'll be able to this thing back together without a couple pieces hitting the wall.

Post a picture of the damage. My suggestion is to buy a undecorated version. It can be had for $49.

Nevermind. Just broke the frame. It broke pretty easy so I wonder if this was one with the bad castings.
Next Stem: Contact AZL.

Oh no!!! Been there and done that with the furry friends... We use Don Fedjur for all non-warranty AZL service and repair. Don's email address is: donfedjur@aol.com In this case, if all you need is the truck, you can get them here: www.azldirect.com/partsThe GP38 is a very basic design and you should be able to put it together fairly easy. The trick is setting the PCB correctly. Rob

In this case, if all you need is the truck, you can get them here: Rob Not anymore. While trying to assemble it back together, half the Frame broke off in my hand. It was a very easy break. And then I broke it again looking at the first break. it was a thin area by the PCB board but it did seem to break very easily.

Get in touch with Loren Snyder. He was trying to sell some of his extras. The undec was part of the Black Friday special from AZL direct.

Would have to agree, Don Fedjur would be the last person I would want working on anything!! He is the reason I left ZoCal!! Sad when I see AZL use his name for repairs/warranty - which is what by the way?. The 1st thing most of the members of ZoCal mentioned when I joined was don't give him your loco's as you may never see them again!!

I am asking the owners of AZL, Hans and Rob A to do the right thing and stop suggesting newbies to use Don's devices. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing among us.
