I tell you what, I'll take a bunch of pictures and email them to you since I can't post them on here due to copyright problems. Then you can post them for me. Will that be OK? This sounds odd - what are the "copyright problems" Confused, -Rob(A) (With my professional hat on...) Canadian Copyright Law is different (and rather disappointingly labor-intensive in one interlibrary-loan-specific instance), and may differ in some odd way. But I will let boxcarwilly explain, as I'm not sure what he has in mind. Signed, Mike (the librarian)

This sounds odd - what are the "copyright problems" Confused, -Rob(A) I too will be interested in "Willy's" copyright issues as it may affect my ability to post images. Rob I'm not surprised. A show I was an exhibitor at, Semicon, has as part of the exhibitor contract that Semicon has the exclusive copyright of all images taken in the show. I believe they also had a no camera clause in the attendee registration, although with all the smart phones, I can't see how they'd enforce it. Mark

I don't know why but when I've tried to post pictures of my layout here before, I always get a message that says "Unable to complete request due to copyright issues". Since these are my pictures I can't understand why this happens. As for pictures of the show, there never has been a problem with people taking pictures of various layouts or the entire show and posting them to various websites. If you google any of the Supertrain shows of past years you can bring up all kinds of pictures posted by ordinary people and attendees. In fact my layout, in it's infancy, was featured in at U Tube post of Supertrain 2012. It was right at the beginning of the clip. So I have no idea what the problem is.

Interesting.
The issue of an event holder owning the copyrights to photos taken inside the event is not exclusive to Canada. The same is true in the USA: the event is on private property, although open to the public, so as a condition of entry to the event they have you sign a contract that gives them rights to any photos taken at the event and you agree not to bring or use a camera. This is the same with Professional Football games. Truth is that enforcement is sporadic at best, and they are really doing that to preserve their rights in case someone tries to make a bundle off their event.
I can only assume that there is an issue with ProBoards (the company that we use to host the AZLForum) has had some Canadian users upload copyrighted images in the past and so now they just don't accept photos from Canadian IP addresses - although this seems rather draconian.
Have any other Canadian users had problems uploading photos?
Best, -Rob(A)

After posting last night, I did a bit of image search for Supertrain 2015. To my surprise there are only a couple of posters: Supertrain, BArailsystems and cprailmmsub. It seems they control images well.

There are all kinds of people who take pics of various layouts and displays at the Supertrain Shows and post them to different websites. The actual Supertrain website for each year had pictures of different layouts and such but those are mostly award winners. Last years show was covered pretty well and there is a video showing many layouts and so on from all four areas and the mezzanine as well. I never have a problem pulling up pictures and videos of show of past years. Maybe that's an exclusivity of Canada. I don't know.

Well with just under a month away until Supertrain 2016, I'm spending every free moment getting my layout ready to display. I've got the truck reserved, and am now taking applications from people to help me move and set up on the Friday before the show. Seems there is no shortage of people who want to help given the unemployment situation here. It's just a matter of choosing the right candidates who will be available for Friday and Sunday and not leave me hangin'. That's always a concern of mine. On another note, regarding posting pics. I tried again two days ago to post some shots of various sections of my layout, but again that same message about copyright came up. This is ridiculous. No matter though, my son is going to take some movies of my layout in operation at the show and post them to U-Tube. Once that's done, I'll make it known on here regarding the link, and anyone who is interested can check it out. This years show is supposed to be the biggest yet with well over 100 exhibitors, vendors, and such and the crew is busy arranging floor space to get everyone in. My layout has been moved 3 times now and I think they finally have settled on a spot for me. At least it's near where I wanted to be. The final floor plan and list of attendants will be posted soon. You can Google Supertain 2016 and get more info. Last years show and winners are posted as well. Due to the expense involved, this is going to be my last year at the show. Even with just one module, it's costing too much for me to do this show and I live in the city. When you're on a fixed income, you only have so much money to play with so something has to be sacrificed. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Boxcarwilly I'm coming this year to see your layout and I'm stoked on life for it. I've only ever seen 1 z scale layout befor in person. I've already marked it on the calendar. I will not be missing your layout for a 2nd year in a row

OUTSTANDING Chris!!! I will be located in what is called the Feature Gym on the west wall on the north side of the complex. I'm thrilled you're going to be here. That's huge news man!!!!! I hope you'll spend a lot of time at my layout, maybe even take a turn or two running it. I can always use an extra pair of hands since my son isn't reliable enough to count on. What day are you coming in?

I will be out On Sunday. if I can get out of work on Saturday I will be attending both days And I plan on spending a majority of my time at your layout. I will walk around and look at others but there layouts are not the reason I'm going yours is.
I might also go check out the eastridge hobbies booth and see what hidden treasures they still have but I would imagine there stock has gotten pretty low over the years as they havnt brought in new stock of z scale in 8+ years.

That's great Chris: I will be the only Z Scale layout there that I know of, so you can spend as much time here as you want. As for checking out Eastridge's booth, don't waste your time if your looking for Z scale stuff. None of the shops here in town carry any Z scale anymore. Even the retailers who come from the surrounding towns and cities and even BC and Sask, don't carry Z scale either. However, if you're looking for common to scale stuff, you'll be in luck. A note on Sunday, I won't be at my layout until about 9:30 or 10. I have to pick up the rental truck first thing in the morning and they don't open until 9 so I won't be getting there right when the show starts. However, there will be a volunteer manning my layout until I show up and maybe my son but that's iffy at best.

Well Supertrain is just over 3 weeks away and I'm as ready as I'll ever be. I've just installed another group of 3 signals on my layout and they are functioning as per plan, and I've tested and retested engines, cars and track and all is well now at least. Of course, who know what will go wrong during the move and setup as something always does. If anyone is interesting in seeing what there is and all about Supertrain, just click on this link and it will take your right to it. My location this year is in the Feature Gym on the west wall, location L14. Just click on floor plan and then expand and you'll see me. www.supertrain.ca I am pleased to see that I'm not going to be the only Z scaler there this year. My mentor, the guy who got me started in Z will be there with his layout. That's excellent. I'm happy that he decided not to get out of it and sell off all his stuff. I look forward to seeing him and to his critique of my layout. Next weekend, I start packing things up and tearing things down and getting ready to go. It seems so far away, yet it's very close. Boy! I hope it goes well.

Well just 3 days away and Supertrain 2016 will be underway. My layout is broken down and ready to go, truck rented and helpers hired so you would think I should be eager to get it happening. Well not a chance. For the last few days I've been having nightmares about things not working the way they should after the layout is set up and wired. I can't help but be in panic mode. This will be the first and last time I have my entire layout at the show and I want so much to make a good impression especially since the guy who got me started in Z scale and my mentor, will be there with his own layout which is considerably smaller then mine. As the only 2 Z scalers in the area, I want us both to shine so people can see what Z scale model railroading is all about. It would be great to attract some new blood to this hobby around here. Too bad AZL won't be there to help promote Z Scale. Intermountain has a booth there and MTL will be represented by PWRS who will be showcasing there own goods as well as MTL's. Oh well, I guess AZL isn't interested in promoting their products. Most unfortunate!!
