Looks great. Are you going to do the small M for the nose also? Can't wait !!!From what I can tell the small logo on the nose is a reduced size version of the logo under the cab. What I'll do later today is to create an EPS version of this for Rob to print. I don't have an undec here so I'll let rob do the resizing for the cab and nose logos. I'll also print out the numbers 2000 through 2004, the GP38-2s that were run by the Monogahela. John www.ztrains.com

It is the same logo that's on the side of engine.
Again can't wait to get my hands on undec GP 38's and decals. Bob

Now all I need to is to nail down the color red for the "M". If you, or anyone else, has a specific red preference, I'll get it adjusted and send the artwork off to Rob for sizing and printing. Now I'm looking forward to seeing this artwork come to life! John www.ztrains.com

Me I prefer red but I know you guys were wanting the faded look. Any chance you can make both colors to make every one happy. If to much trouble I 'll go with what you make. Bob

Bob Hi Bob, You misunderstood, I am going to do the faded orange for Rob as well as the red version, something for everyone that way! I was just trying to determine the exact (or close to) shade of red to use. I can make an reasonable guess at the exact color or if there is a definitive source for the red, I'll use that. Something kind of interesting here: www.rrpicturearchives.net/locolist.aspx?id=MGANow all the GP38-2s are listed, 2000 through 2004. All photos show the logo as orange. I originally thought it was faded red but I'm now thinking it actually was orange! Even with paint fade, it's unusual that all of these locos would fade at the same rate. Also, there are some photos with a mix of the white stripes, orange logo on the sides and a red "M" on the front, like this one: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2513496I'm now thinking the orange was the original, older color and as time went by they went to red and added the stripes as well. Maybe Atlas actually did get it right with their N scale version? John www.ztrains.com

But your right it was redish orange and then went to red on Super 7's .i stand corrected. Smack me stupid and etc!!!!!! Bob www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2513496

Ok, I think I may be there... but feel free to correct me, we want to get this right! Actually Bob I'm glad we went through this process of identifying the colors, a little railroad archeology is always fun. This is my first shot at copying an existing railroad logo. I have TONS of empathy for all companies that do this, there are so many tiny variations in color and typeface, even on a seemingly simple design like this. Some Notes:1) I had to create some of the road number digits in Illustrator, as I could not find the specific typeface. 2) The orange and red colors... I'm just winging these colors from the old photos. 3) Sizes. I'll send Rob K. the vector artwork, he can adjust the sizes to fit the loco shell. On balance I'm pretty happy with this artwork, let me know what you think. John www.ztrains.comAttachments:

Ztrains I hate it when my tweets go out due to an unintentional keystroke! Was asked to replicate the Monongahela for a Z scale decal sheet. yesterday · reply · retweet · favorite
