You have certainly captured the dune system along the SE Atlantic coast. I have s small cottage on NC's Outer Banks & this is a familiar scene, minus the train of course! Their loss!😊

Their loss!😊 ....I like when friends talk about their "small place at the beach." Usually it ends up that the house takes up 3 waterfront lots. You're right. Nobody has trains running close by except maybe in Charleston or Jax.

[smile] In my case it really is small and well back from the beach by design. Seen what storm surge can do so chose a spot 35 feet above sea level up in the maritime forest. Can hear the ocean & be on the beach in less than 5 min. Those beachfront mega mansions are an insult to the eyes as far as I'm concerned. My place is small & cozy, tucked low into the dunes. Instead of train whistles I have to settle for the hoots of s Great horned owl. Y'all come!

Thanks for sharing the link. Those are some nice ships. On a different topic, I've always loved your representation of sand. May I ask what you used?

The sand is microwaved, cleaned and all "bigger" parts removed using a fine kitchen sieve (colander) several (!!) times until only the very fine sand grains are left. Best, Sven

You apply it together with wood glue (e.g. Ponal) at a consistency comparable to potato mash on your layout super-structure.

If you add some color you can create variations of earth or other coverage .........
