See you in Lahnstein at the weekend! Sven & Dirk Hi Dom: Sven mentioned above a show in Lahnstein. But on the page he linked, using Google Chrome (among other browsers), you can instantly translate pages when you open it. Comme ça, il est plus facile de comprendre l'allemand. Et aussi le francais. Mais, je déjà parle Français ... un peu. Must be amazing to see that diorama in person. It is a work of art.

Where was it? Unfortunately I don't speak nor read German... Dom No problem, Dom, Lahnstein is one of the top locations and there are plenty of videos out there now in the internet. E.g. at minute 14:26 ; at minute 19:16 ; at minute 3:40 ; at minute 10:36 ; Since there was also a beautiful French layout, you will certainly find something in French, too! Best, Sven PS: An article about Lahnstein can be found in the March Issue of Trainini; www.trainini.de/download/Trainini_2016-03.pdf

Congratulations on the first showing of your layout, looks like it was a great turn out and a big crowd pleaser for sure!! Thank you very much! FYI - It looks like Rob Kluz is thinking a little bit along the same lines. He informed us that Chesapeake Bay will be published as a full report in his Z Track Magazine in the March/April issue 2016. We are very excited to see our layout the first time in print! Well, Dom, I don`t know what you are cooking, but we have started the final count down for Altenbeken. That means, that even non-railway "stars" get their ultimate make-up! In this case, it is one of Peter Nolans ships ( nscaleships.com ), which has been weathered, stuffed with some crab boxes, a fishing net, and manned with a real "sea wolf", etc. .........

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Recently I stumbled over a blog where very experienced model railroader were discussing a fascinating topic: ? CAN MODEL RAILROADING BE ART ? They used our Chesapeake Bay layout as one of the references. Here is the link: 157949.homepagemodules.de/t980f8-Ja-kann-sie.html"Are all modelers only boys and girls playing with toys or do we approach art with our best efforts? Some of us admit right up front that we are playing with toys – and are quite pleased about to boot. Why grow old when you can stay young forever, at least in some sense? On occasions we, like John Allen, may wonder if we’re just wasting our time on our hobby or if we’re doing something worthwile. That is, are we creating significant or merely incidental art? If you aspire to do great things – write a great novel, paint a great picture, or design and build a great model railroad – it’s reasonable to assume that your success will be directly related not only to your skill but to the depth of your commitment. TK:" Trains of Thought, Tony Koester, Model Railroader, Issue Feb.95 What do you think? Best, Sven

Hello everybody! I discover this post while searching information on Altenbeken, where I will expose my new layout. Apparently, I will have an article in Marklin magazine (?) and perhaps Trainini. You can see some photos on www.ztrain2.eu (with 2 videos) Have a good day.
