By chance I came again to the site of Searails and saw that they sell, or sold (as a kit) the Baldwin RF-16 "Sharknose" (A) ; such a model would be fine if AZL could make it too, but in RTR version !

Search for “shark” on this site and you will find that Hans is apparently quite opposed to doing this model due to its ugly factor.

For myself, I find it beautiful ... Maybe they should make a poll among the users of the forum ?

For myself, I find it beautiful ... Maybe they should make a poll among the users of the forum ? Really a distinctive loco! But only two class 1 railroads (Pennsilvania and NYC) used them. No use in western railroads. In Delaware & Hudson livery it is really beautifull. But probabely too unattractive from the producers perspective

PRR, NYC, and B&O purchased units new. NYC sold some to Monongahela. 2 of those went to D&H.

When I began 2017 the only Budd's available were NH, so I decided to model Massachusetts around 1965, with NH and NYC. Meanwhile I bought the NYC Budd's, too.

Did Searails ever brought it to the market? Greetings Mattias

Interesting yes. viable, no
The same goes for the Centipedes and the Erie Builts. Just too few operators. Maybe as brass locomotives if we ever got back to brass production.

GHW Miniatures, a Shapeways shop, offers A and B unit shells to fit the MTL F-7 chassis.

(Doo-doo-de-do-do) Now get THAT out of your head! The shark!? I assume we’re referring to the Baldwin RF-16. Have you ever stopped to consider the visual possibilities it presents for AZL webpage banners?! The shark nose … the nose of the shark nose … water level that adds to the terror … The Water Level Route! … The Water Level Route of The New York Central!! For the art, put in the water a Baldwin RF-16. Based on that alone, the shark should be picked up by AZL. Okay, maybe too few roads used ’em, and, therefore, the shark has limited appeal. Sometimes I think we should all stop what were doing and just model the Pennsylvania Railroad. After all, what livery do you see the most when you think box car. Scott

Attached is a completed set, from the Searails bodies. Gerd did the painting on these for me. Attachments:
