Define functional. Sometimes you can swap out the AZL couch let with MTL couplers.

Define functional. Sometimes you can swap out the AZL couch let with MTL couplers. The coupler it comes with will swing out to far pulling cars off track, and secondly unless you glue it in falls off with a load of cars. I see the only way is to change trucks, removing the pilot.(thanks sjl)

There are a few ways to make the front coupler functional. Remove the plow and front truck then using the Truck with attached coupler available from AZL Direct is probably going to be the easiest and the most reliable option. or you could try Removing the factory coupler from the plow. drill, tap, and shim it so you can use a screw to attach a AZL or MTL coupler AND Use a much Larger radius track You might also need to use a 89' flat car or maybe a longer passenger car with body mount couplers to connect to the loco to match the swing but you will still need to use a larger radius so that the front end dose not swing out far enough to derail anything attached to it. As explained in the AZL locomotive ALCO RS-3
