Rob, Any word from Digitrax on the release of the AZL specific DCC decoder? I got lots of locos waiting for these babies. Thanks, James

Hi James,
Last I talked to AJ Ireland at Digitrax he said he needed to write up the documentation. Soon I hope! I will reach out to him again next week and inquire.
Best, -Rob

Perhaps we should contact the source about it. A couple dozen RFIs might boost its priority.

Mark, That's fine, but do you have contact info to do that? I doubt their Tech Support folks would know about release dates. -James

James, Although Rob A. has given us a name, my thought was to email customer support. Remember we're talking about Digitrax, not IBM. I'd be surprised if the support question does go to the same office, if not the same desk as AJ Ireland.

OK, I sent my question via their Contact Us page. I encourage others to do the same. -James

Well, no response from Digitrax. That's not a good sign. -James

James, At least they didn't flash back an "I don't know" email, so I consider it good that someone is at least thinking about a response.

I just ordered a decoder for my GP30 from MB Klein. Their web page listed them in stock. I'm interested to see how it installs and runs.

Comments on the new Digitrax decoders after installing about 10 of them at the Train Show this weekend - the decoders install very nice in the GP30s, but the GP38-2s have an odd shape in the casting that prevents the decoder to seat all the way in on the front contact points. If the slots were straight horizontally, not curved up, there would be no issue installing these decoders (except maybe too much solder on the decoder's front contact points - top of the decoder circuit board, not the bottom). And since they don't seat far enough in, the rear of the decoder doesn't fit in front of the vertical pieces to prevent the board from backing out. One of the other Zocaler guys experienced his decoder backing out causing the loco not to run, until it was reseated. As for performance, these are smooth running locos (aces AZL), running nice is consists too. We ran 2 GP38's (SP, natch), for a few hours with 25-ish autoracks and double stack containers with no issue.
