hello, you may use pigment pens with a 0.7mm point; it is easier than a brush on these tiny things. but the colors could not match POSCA pens are really good Thank you, ptitrainrouge, that is an interesting advice. I will keap an eye on it! In the meantime I found out, that I can use Microscale thin silver strip decals for the engine aswell. It masks the uneaven contour of my painting pretty well. And the vallejo colours match exactly the SP colours.

texrail, I just got back to this site, and came across your thread. Excellent scratch build and SBS! I too scratch build locomotives. What are you using for epoxy, and are you creating any mechanical attachments besides epoxy? I have Delta cast metal trailing trucks if you are interested. I can also share some railing techniques as well. Here is a link to one of my builds on another site: www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/gn-4-6-2-h4-build.144447/Scott

Hi, Scott, first of all, I hope you had a very fine Xmas with your family and your z scale project! I was exactly Your thread on TB which animated me to try it also! Your GN 4-6-2 is really first class! Your metal castings and boiler parts are great! Of course, your trailing trucks would be highly appreceated! I used a German epoxy, called Uhu Plus. It is transparent and remains a little flexibility. I removed the engine shell several times without any cracks. I glued thin brass stripes on both sides of the firebox to enhance the stability.

A future project will be a SP F-5 type ( "Decks") engine. Here are already some Marklin parts as a starting point.

texrail, Thanks for the holiday wishes. I hope your family is enjoying the holidays as well. I am glad I inspired someone to do some scratch building, the more the merrier. Thanks for the epoxy reference. Start a conversation on TB regarding the trailing trucks. I also have some steam shell kits from my dad's early work in Z, that you might be interested in for the SP. BTW, if you need any drawing reference material I have several books.
