What's the rush. These will be products that are months, perhaps years in coming. I'm more interested in what should be released as August New Products part 2 today.

What's the rush. These will be products that are months, perhaps years in coming. I'm more interested in what should be released as August New Products part 2 today. I don't know it's so much "rush" as it is just healthy anticipation of what's next. Personally, I *know* that whatever is being released today isn't something I'll buy. (unless something new hits, to coincide with an announcement) Don't need switchers or Alco's....everything else that AZL has on their prior announcement list that I have any interest in is already out the door. With the delay of the SD40-2's it very well could be a solid year without purchasing a single AZL item for me, unless something changes. (and that would be a year-and-a-half if not for a weak moment of buying some BNSF switchers.) So I'm eager for some good new news.

Wow, that's actually a cool layout and design! Can we get that in Z?!

Wow, that's actually a cool layout and design! Can we get that in Z?! Yeah any AF or Lionel layout can be translated. These guys only had a curve, a straight, left and right turnouts and crossing for track. Someone correct me but isn’t it a 1963 version of T-Trak-Z? If AZL needs some inspiration how about this:

Thank you markm Tycoon.
American Flyer. Had one of those sets as a boy. S scale, I think it was. Ours was a single loop in six sections. Very durable for children. Ah, yes … (A) The Pacific (4-6-2) … [Hint.] Wouldn’t it be wonderful if that were the next steam locomotive for AZL? (B) Layering 2 by 2 foamboard, one can actually build a sectional layout for Z scale that is very reminiscent of that which we saw for American Flyer. (Got the footboard-riser idea ’bout a week ago—A Z scale layout ain’t that far away!) Boy, … an AZL Pacific. … There were so many of them. … Hans, Rob, Publication Rob. …

Todd,
Welcome to the group and welcome to Z. It can be an interesting scale.
Pleased you enjoyed the AF videos. I still have my S scale trains: an 0-6-0 switcher, a PA set and of course the Pacific. In fact when I bought my first Z, I was giving thought to using them as an S scale amusement park ride.
I’m hoping for a Pacific locomotive in the announcements. We really need one to go with the heavyweight passenger cars and I’ve been nagging about it for so long I figure they’ll do it just to shut me up.

At the "other end", i.e. modern trains (of Canada), I saw yesterday on a German TV channel a report about the "Rocky Mountaineer" trains, which have a very interesting colour scheme, and only 2 models of cars (but are very long) ; the locos seem to be standard painted in fitting colours (I am not a specialist of modern rolling stock). All the way the model would be less expensive than a ride with the prototype : about 2500 (I think US) dollars ...
