But not for me ... I was already dreaming of US trains when I began building my former N layout end of the 70's (1976 I had seen an HO US-layout in the french magazine RMF), but I forgot this idea because there were not enough buildings and accessories (excepted a station by Faller and very few buildings by Pola). 3D printing is a very fine thing for this purpose !

Thanks for posting. I hope this venture is successful as the loco and cars look very good. I particularly liked the combination of lighting in the engine. I have always thought it looks funny to see an engineers cab brightly lit with white light going around in the dark, obviously that would never happen in real life. Dim red (or blue in this case) cab lighting is more like it! Of course that may not come stock, that and the sound module look like a very special build. Anyway, French equipment would look good alongside German trains. Here's hoping Azar grows and z.scale.hobo can import their models!

It is a homemade job with Velmo decoder by "Malou" - a highly active French Z enthusiast - modeling all regions. He posted a few videos of Azar rolling stock. Check Azar's channel for actual Azar lok videos (presently only 2 vids as of today) ...

Ah, thank you, those blue and white locos are not the same. And the correct definition of "rolling stock" noted!

this is a great improvement for french Z scalers. Marklin produces only very small quantities of any cars; And I do not know if they made even a loco. French Z scalers who wants something have to transform german material or do it in 3D printing by themselves AZAR had made french cereal hoppers in 3d printing which are awesome (sadly not my stuff)
the TGV are coming
the locos are not only shells but fonctionnal, and at a good price

I was looking in the Z scale section of the 2022 Marklin catalogue and I noticed this: SNCF class 232 TC I believe these were German locomotives that stayed in France after the second world war. I also noticed there are more non German models in the catalogue this year.

No, if You look at Wikipedia : they were built in Germany for the railways of "Alsace Lorraine", which belonged to Germany before WW I, and came back to France in 1918.

I wonder if these signals could be used as block signals on a french layout ... But unfortunately there is not (yet) a french railcar (Picasso or Caravelle) made by AZAR (French modellers like "local and rural" lines from the 60's or 70's), so I think these models (together with TGV to come) are rather suitable for cross-border traffic to Germany or Switzerland. For myself I was waiting for a long time for availability of US models, after I saw an HO layout in RMF, 1976 ; especially there were no structures, so my N layout from the 80's was ... German !

If you subscribe to Continental Modeler magazine, typically they post (over 2-3 issues), all of the new train releases from the huge German Toy Fairs. There are *many* from neighboring countries, several that you might guess and other Continents!

French Z scalers who wants something have to transform german material or do it in 3D printing by themselves Better than that : Marklin never took care of the french market since its implementation. Only 2 SNCF locos had been released for 50 years, a 2-10-0 150Y Class and a 4-6-4 232TC Class, both of them beeing former german railroad designs. I wonder if these signals could be used as block signals on a french layout ... For myself I was waiting for a long time for availability of US models, after I saw an HO layout in RMF, 1976 ; especially there were no structures, so my N layout from the 80's was ... German ! Please allow them to take the time they're needing ! They're starting from scratch, and such as AZL, they cannot arrive in the first time with a full range of rolling stock... Indeed I think their idea of first making a 67400 Class diesel is clever, as this locomotive model has run for nearly 50 years on almost all SNCF network including electrified lines, with all kind of trains behind, ranging from the hotshot intercity passenger train to the slowest drag freight.. And in my opinion the 72000 Class is the nicest of all electric and diesels that ran on the french network. I've always been in love with it ! For this very reason, and although I've no plan to model any french railroad in any future (I still have to find the time to start my mexican project, and I'm afraid I'll have to retire in order to find it), I just ordered one sample ! Sometimes I will put my Ferrocarril Chiapas-Mayab freights on the siding just to have my 72000 stretching its wheels on my future layout.. Dom
