I was on the unfortunate "wrong" side of that equation....held off for awhile on buying the BNSF Mineral Red set, until a few months ago. However, I did still manage to buy a medium size pile of these 2-Bays this morning. Needed a couple of BN cars and some additional MP and MP/UP cars also. Some will be sold off as combined 4-packs as I don't need so many, but still nice to build up the roster some at a budget-friendly price.

Also, One has to be careful before hitting the order button when a good deal comes up... A couple years ago I ordered several Black Friday special deals and when I received them and went to add them to my collection that is contained by so many storage totes I discovered that I had duplicated road number sets that I already had ! So one needs to keep good track of their inventory especially during the Black Friday Special season! Some popular items will sell out within hours and you may miss a good deal if you have to go digging through what you already have.

For duplicate road numbers you might want to consider MTLs “weathering” technique: cover a digit or two with rust or graffiti. You know Mark that is actually a good idea... Over the years I have duplicated quite a few freight cars, (either unknowingly or intentionally) enough autoracks, hoppers, gondolas, etc. to make up a good long train and I would still have the other copies in new condition. I will just need to take the time to learn how to use the air brush that I bought for this hobby... Thanks, Mark

I don't think you really need an airbrush to get started. You could scrape off part of a digit. You could try Graffiti decals. And if you happen to have the early MTL UP LWs, they came with a decal number sheet that might be useful. You could do a patch which wouldn't require much more than basic brush painting skills.

EDIT: Wanted to add a bit of cautionary language about the lettering removal. Some of the roadnames have proved to be difficult. Most of the how-to's on the lettering removal call for 7-8 minutes of application of the Micro-Sol. I can assure you, roads such as Monon and BN (gray) do NOT need that long. Anything over about 4-1/2 minutes and you are risking paint failure...you'll likely pull off paint as you remove the lettering. First time I've ever experienced this....normally paint failure only happens after I've rubbed a spot too long trying to remove stubborn lettering. But this stuff comes off in sheets. I literally pulled off half of the paint from a BN car with one piece of tape. But after backing off of the time I have had success getting clean BN and Monon cars with no paint problems. The SP and MoPac cars did not seem to have this issue, but probably would still work with the shorter timeframe too. These cars are very easy to remove lettering from. (SEE EDIT ABOVE) I just did it yesterday on an SP car. (ordered more from the sale so figured the SP one I already have was expendable. Google or search on this forum for Micro-Sol lettering removal and you will find the details. I made some AFCX decals yesterday to reletter some of my cars, took an action shot while I was waiting for the ink to dry... Trying to make the spartan ACFX cars like this: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2543962&fbclid=IwAR1PW7mpThZ0SDO27XepHhQ8YmMfi4YWF_xP-CRj0eEKPEEjrHSHQt0QTc4

So was #4 the last one, or do we get one more on Christmas Eve? Maybe some nice red ES44ACs?

I thought there was mention of an "extra week" in there somewhere. I could be wrong about that. I like the idea of that CP ES44.
