New intermodal containers
Hi folks,
I’m working on a new order for containers. These will be rib side, loosely based on the Jindo prototype. We’re doing 54’ and 40’ again because the old container tooling broke.
While the tooling is complete, I’m now working on the paint schemes and would appreciate your input.
Are their particular 53’ or 40’ container liveries that you would like to see produced? The more common they are, the more likely They will be cleared for production (one off special paint schemes need to be REALLY special)
Thanks for the input! RobA

I've never seen these, but who doesn't want a "BOSS" container?

Alex: ...choose only one! Surely, only one one - ONE However, in pair - pink and white. In case if strictly only a single version possible - then pink.

I'm going to throw a couple easy ones out there that should fit every road How about some basic dirty grimy white containers and some faded Red Oxide containers with little more than the standard container ID number, weights and such. Maybe some plain containers that the logo has been patched or painted over.

Point of clarification....there are no 54ft containers. The standard is 53ft.
My two cents on decoration...
40ft International/Ocean Containers. -Maersk/Maersk Sealand -Hyundai -CMA-CGM -MSC -OOCL -P&O/Hapag Lloyd/et al -K-Line
53ft -Hub Group (Red) -SWIFT -JB Hunt -Pacer Stacktrain -Schneider
The above 40/53 suggestions would ideally be in schemes practical for mid/late-2000's. I model 2006 give or take a few years. That is when the Jindo's and other corrugated 53's really started to take over and many of those schemes are still in service today or at most minor tweaks. The more modern the scheme, the smaller your market becomes so keep that in mind. Some folks like modeling "current day" so that's another set of decoration for many companies like Swift for example. The "ONE" containers (40ft) are quite modern, but should be very popular for obvious reasons. (very colorful) They are too modern for me but if I were you I would definitely make those.

I was going to say...a few of the schemes that I haven't seen in Z that were fairly common are the brown/oxide/red/maroon whatever shade of containers with names like Triton, GOLD, and few others. Later similar cars with the Florens logo, too. Along the lines of the Tex containers that Rokuhan has done. A Triton or GOLD container would be great and then you could turn them into the "mystery box" that Dave describes. (assuming the lettering is easily removed like many of your freight cars...or just paint over with a patch.)

53' both green and red Hub Group Amazon - not sure of size
Maybe this is already assumed but I'm hoping somewhere in the future you'll re-run your NSC 53' well cars so the 53' containers can be on both top and bottom. MTL well cars only allow up to (the rare) 48' and even the FR well cars look like they should fit up to 48' but only fit 40'. It's a little confusing to Z scale newbies that 53' containers are relegated to only the top layer for well cars currently available in Z.

Or better yet, make some Maxi-IV articulated 53ft stack cars. Far and away the most popular double stack car on the rails since 2000. TTX, BNSF Circle, BNSF Swoosh, Pacer, et al.

I vote for ONE containers in both pink and white colors. Another choice would be Amazon containers. You are seeing these more often lately on container trains!
