Got the #1502, all I could afford for now.... Got her today in the mail, what a beauty!! I do like the colors better on the one I received, it's a tad bit darker in both yellow/blue so it's more realistic, versus the ones shown above.

I found an Alaska B dummy road number 1503. Any thoughts on using It for sound?

I am a little surprised that these beautiful units have not sold out after being released three weeks ago. After the last "Alaskan Gold Rush" where the units sold out in only a couple of days; plus, there seemed to be an uptick in ARR fans clamoring for more. So what caused the difference?
Do people prefer "Geeps" over EMD engines? Does everyone already have the MTL and/or Marklin versions? Perhaps it was because the GP-38's were released together with the lightweights and people wanted to get a complete "ready to run" train? Maybe AZL should have released some ARR freight cars to go along with the F7's to sweeten the offering?
Probably just shows how hard it is for AZL to always make good predictions on product production and sales.
Anyway, thanks Rob, Rob, and Hans for these beautiful models. I love the detail more than MTL's versions.

Much larger run of units. AZL anticipated demand.

I found an Alaska B dummy road number 1503. Any thoughts on using It for sound? If it's the newer M-T B unit, there's no room cause it's just the two frame halves without mechanism, but the older ones have just a flat frame and that would work for sound with all the room you need!

While Its a lot easier to put sound into the first Gen MTL dummy B units, It is possible to put it into a 2nd gen MTL dummy as well. However if i'm going to spend the time, money, and effort to put sound in a B unit I'm going to put it into one of AZL's B units. Both 2nd gen MTL and AZL's B units would require milling of the chassis, But the power pickup on AZL's B unit is more reliable than MTL's, it is powered not a dummy, and it looks better in my opinion. I've always been tempted to call that number on the car.... This is the internet age, why call? It's actually The Railroad's real estate office, sellings/leasing ARR properties such as stations, freight houses and staging yards. www.alaskarailroad.com/real-estate/contact
