I would love to see Western Pacific U30b in the green and orange color scheme. As far as I know AZL has only one engine out of the Western Pacific with the green and orange color scheme which is the F7. Great looking engine, however we need more Western Pacific engines available like a GP35, and GP40 in the Perlman green color scheme. The four axle engines are great for tighter radius layouts! My preference is the WP orange/silver pain schemes. It would be nice to see any of the U30B, GP35 or GP40 in either of the WP paint schemes. Mark

Great Northern-both "Omaha Orange/Pullman Green" or the "Big Sky Blue" scheme on a few after 1967, (which would go nice with the near future SW1500's in the BSB paint as well), plus Burlington Northern after the merger. There's 3 variations right there. Just sayin'.....

Alright, for the defense of the U25B.
Wikipedia says: AT&SF-16 C&O-38 CB&Q-6 Milw-12 Rock Island-39 E-L -27 GN-24 L&N-27 NYC-70 New Haven-26 N&W- 1! Frisco-23 SP-68 UP-12 Wabash-15 Plus the Frisco and UP had high nose versions, original demonstrators and you have the mergers as well, and I imagine a few random owners after that.

Working in the industry I understand the need to justify the tooling costs etc. Having said that I would think a U25B would do pretty well, and perhaps a U30C.

I don't think LV had them, but the PRR and NYC units made their way into PC and Conrail paint. Same situation with GN->BN. I'm just getting back into Z after a long absence so I'm not sure how well east coast road names do in Z. Life is certainly easy being an SP modeler!

Mark A modeling note for WP U-boats: there were a lot of paint variations. For the Perlman green the nose paint could be “WP”, Tiger stripes or an orange “bloody nose.” The road number board could be orange on green or green on orange. For the Zephyr scheme the road name could be white or black in Zephyr or Roman characters. Road number could also be white or black and not necessarily matching the road name. In a couple of cases the cab road number was replaced with the Feather River logo. Nose tiger stripes could be just on the nose, down to the sill or all the way down on the pilot. While I don’t believe any U-boats we’re painted in the pumpkin or “new image” schemes, by my count one could produce 15 variations! But it’s always the same: too many trains, too little time. Mark
