I am impressed by all the love for the Alaska Railroad from Z-scalers. Makes me think there might be a strong market in Z for SD70MAC's. Between Alaska and BNSF, et al, that could be a strong seller. I think Kato did pretty well with them in N and HO. (I believe Athearn did them in HO as well) Conrail, CSX, TFM, and KCS are other roads that owned significant numbers.
I would easily buy as many road numbers of 70MACs as AZL would likely release in the various BNSF schemes (pre-swoosh anyway) and likely would buy dupes too to renumber.

A locomotive we have looked closely at many times. Unfortunately we cannot piggyback on older products. It would have to be completely new tooling. And it is not on our short or medium term horizon.

ARR SD70MAC's would be awesome to have, they run them on freight and passenger up there. I find myself watching a lot of ARR vid's on Youtube!

Probably wouldn't be on my list either if I were in your shoes. But, it seems that--more and more--"iconic" seems to be very popular these days and that includes obviously the "name trains" that you are doing, certain popular railroads that have a cult following like ATSF, Pennsy, et al. (and I would place Alaska RR in that category) The Alaska SD70MAC might be among the most public modern locos ever given their frequent appearances on TV. To have a loco that has one of the big icons, PLUS a few major Class I's, (with BN/BNSF having close to 800 of them) is something I think is worth considering someday. And yes, I definitely am biased.

There are several AlaskaRR YouTube videos that have attracted quite a following. Only natural it has caught the eye of Z scalers.

For those who are not rivet counters, an Alaska custom painted SD70M could represent a decent SD70MAC.. Dom

For those who are not rivet counters, an Alaska custom painted SD70M could represent a decent SD70MAC.. Dom That's exactly what I'm doing with the AZL BNSF H-II SD75I's. They'll represent the BNSF MAC's, and maybe I'll even get energetic enough to renumber them. I also have another SD75I that I stripped to eventually repaint into the BN "Grinstein Green"/Eddie Bauer scheme, too. And I consider myself a rivet counter....just not a very good one. Someday--who knows--I might try my hand at scratchbuilding some. But that's part of the reason I went to Z so that I could sort of ease off on such things a bit. If I get to the point where I have a nice Z layout and my biggest problem is faux-70MAC's then I figure I'd be pretty happy with that.

Doug, the first release of the BNSF SD70M’s are actually label SD70Mac, if you don’t mind not having the laundry Shute. It looks pretty good from 10 feet
