Oh you are completely correct - they do use tape on most DOT applications: solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Traffic_Safety/TSS/Offerings/Products/Veh_Conspicuity_Markings/The problem is that stuff is 0.25mm thick. If you apply it to a Z scale locomotive it will be scale over 2" thick - say goodbye to any details underneath the tape! We were trying to find some reflective paint, but just never found anything that worked very well (it also had to be compatible with a pad printer due to manufacturing issues.) Our production managers know we are interested in adding this feature when they find a good solution, so hopefully one day we will be able to add it to the product line. Best, -Rob

AZL should concentrate their locomotive releases to correspond to the existing rolling stock available in Z. With all the modern rolling stock, the obvious choice would be an injection molded Dash-9. It's a modern locomotive with a long range era, many paint schemes, and very popular. I see a lot of oddball suggestions in this thread but Z scale isn't big enough yet to hit esoteric prototypes.

Since you already have the chassis,GP40/-2 and GP50.I would like to see the GP60 too but they are longer than the 38/50 units.

Those chassis are not compatible with our current design. It would be less expensive to make a whole new chassis than to modify the GP40-2 tooling...

The GP 38/39/40/50 all use the same length chassis.Since you already have the xhassis for the GP 38 you also have the chassis for the rest of them. ;D
The GP60 on the otherhand is several feet longer and would need a new chassis.

The F3 is great news to hear! F-units with coreless motors, flywheels, they're long overdue. With the full width carbody to work with it could be a tank too - make 'em heavy!
I'll throw in a plug for a genset too, it would be great match for AZL modern rolling stock.

AFTER the Big Boy is released, I would like to get a UP844. The reason for THIS exact motor is that 844, the last of the FEF-3 class, is the longest continuously operating 4-8-4 engine in the world, and the only one never retired by a Class I railroad.
Of course, the Other reason is that ANY time that it goes West from Cheyenne it HAS to go thru my area.
