I had thought the B units were going to be sold separate from the A units? I already have a SP E9, but would love to pick up a couple of the E7 B units to go with it...

The E7s were the last B units SP purchased, used throughout the system with E9s and PAs. I’ll be very disappointed if I have to take an A unit (Which's were rare in Northern California) in order to get a B

The wallet is safer for 15 more days.....
That’s a nice looking A-B set but what would you run with it? I don’t recall any Seaboard rolling stock. Could this be the beginning of another named train?

In my 90 seconds of research, I saw very little reference to E7's painted in this scheme (mostly other model companies), though I saw plenty of real E4A pictures. I'm sure Rob or Hans will share more info soon. As you can tell, I'm looking for an excuse to own a set.

The book I have puts both of these as Budd LW trains. Just can’t tell how close they fit to the CZ.

SP Daylight E7B. Yes you will be able to buy it separately. But I think this will be the exception. Common consists were a mix of Daylight E9As and E7Bs.

While not as major an issue for me as SP, you may want to consider separate B units (both E7 and E9) for UP. They ran consists of 4-5 units for their mail trains and later for freight.

That paint scheme is called "Citrus", early units like E4 had this scheme with silver trucks, the E7 had a later version with black trucks and tanks, but this paint scheme was only used for a few years and the last evidence of this particular paint scheme is a b/w photo from 1949, after that the roofs where painted in olive, what makes sense, those yellow roofs must have locked filthy after one day. So bottom line it's an exotic paint scheme in a narrow time frame.

I have attempted to construct a City of Los Angeles train on my own, but could use some more B units for sure.

Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society. On this date in 1951, the group ran its first excursion, and TRy became the first railroad in the world to be preserved as a heritage railway by volunteers. Were you expecting something else?
