Hello Hans, Will we ever see any new releases covering ROCK ISLAND diesel locomotives from AZL ? MTL made 2 different paint schemes in their F7 A/B's and did a GP 9, but so far AZL has released only the IAIS Rock Island Heritage scheme on their ES44AC. I was shocked no Rock Island was offered on the ALCO RS-3, E-7 or E-8/9 release. Some future releases on AZL F-3' A/B's , GP 7/9's (non DB) and SD 40-2's (non DB) would be welcomed. Preferably in "traditional" Rock Island schemes of red/black, maroon with pin stripes, maroon/yellow or bright red/yellow. Please no BB (Bankruptcy Blue). Passenger cars or Bi-Level commuter cars would be nice also. Thank You, Mr. Barlow

There are Rock Island cabooses, which I always thought a bit odd given the general lack of engines. On the other hand, lots of good looking D&H engines, but no cabooses (or passenger cars for that matter)...

With the upcoming release of the Golden State, seems like an opportunity for the E units to be released.

You might have to take the good with the bad, so to speak. Having some blue in the mix might help bolster interest across the board for Rock Island. I grew up alongside the Rock Island in its final years, and although I model a more modern era, I still will eventually have a "Rock" covered hopper in the mix. (some of which still exist today). I do remember the red/yellow units that frequented the area. I though the GP7/9's are no more, at least for now, from AZL's perspective. Maybe I misunderstood on that. Probably not too late on the Alco's and E-7's which are still "live". And of course SD40-2's would be neat...I had an Athearn Rock Island SD40-2 back when I was in HO as a youth.

I could see 1 locomotive release, but 3 ? (RS-3, SD 45, GP38-2). I bet in the entire world there's maybe 10 modelers into D&H. Other neglected roads by AZL are ERIE / EL and NW.

If you check out the sd40-2 thread, RI is under consideration. Aside from the economics something to consider is the availability of prototype information for modeling. Doing a quick image search, I found only the E units and SD40-2 seem to have enough information
Of course being a west coast guy there may still be a multitude of printed images available.

Mark, There are excellent sources of RI locomotive/rolling stock photos out there, including multiple Morning Sun books and of course the internet fav's: FF railroads, RPA, and flickr.

RI: Will be included in the next RS run (late 2021). That should be the case for the next E8 as well (late 2022). Think we will stay clear of, yes "Bankruptcy Blue"

How about some Rock Island F3 and F7 units on the next run?
Passenger Locomotives: This is actually an FP7. RI had F7A & F7B units in this paint scheme. Freight Locomotives: Rock Island had F2A, F7A & F7B units in this paint scheme. Pictured are F7A and F7B units. The F2A units were cosmetically modified to look like F3A units.

Honestly I would buy 2 or 3 of the D&H SD45s today if I could get a nice caboose to go along with them. I have teased Rob K. that maybe I'll run them with a NW caboose . I wanted to insert an image here, but it won't take:imagestorage.nerail.org/photos/2018/12/07/2018120722094624101.jpg
