Casey, you mention that you found a UK shop with USA locos. Your pictures are "U.S." locos from Märklin (Germany). These use the Velmo decoders only (no U.S. decoders, without manual wiring). They are very old (from 1985 era, if I am not mistaken) and can have motors that no not run (Hard oil syndrome) that requires you to do special cleaning to get the old hard oil out, so you can re-lubricate. You cannot just put drops of new oil on the motor (and gears).
If the UK shop has AZL (American Z Lines), they are modern, us U.S. drop-in decoder (DZ123Z0). Many of the AZL locos are ~$100-$150.
Please continue to ask questions, so we can help get the least amount of problems.

If the Seller says it 'Runs' or 'Tested' (which assumes it 'Runs'), then it should be OK. At sometime, they will need maintenance, 'generally' 1 MICRO drop of oil to the each end of the motor. I believe Märklin changed their oil, at some time. But likely 2000 era. I just could not find the post (quickly) More info on cleaning: www.zscale.org/articles/revival.html#cleaning
