I’m looking at using something to make some small water puddles, Z scale, of course. They’d be less than a square inch or so on the layout. Just curious what others have used on their layouts. Thanks!

Zdave You need some small rain clouds.. 🤣 I couldn’t help myself. Joking aside . Color some resin Or clear silicon to your desire and drop some drops to size you want onto flat piece of glass. When dry remove from glass ( may need to use razor blade to scrape off glass ). Flip over place on layout. If using foam board press into level or place into Spackle.

If it is on plastic, CA and ordinary styrene glue dry shiny. Could do a fast pass with Gloss-Cote (from a distance).

I use Modge Podge - Gloss. It is simple and easy to use. You can also build up layers. Plus you can add texture like water ripples.

I like Woodland Scenics Water Effects tinted with Murky water tint. Makes great puddles and made a very realistic pig sty.

Thanks for all the responses! I’ve got some of the stuff mentioned. I’ll experiment a little and see what pleases me.

I did an experiment today with Woodland Scenics water effects and tint. I had already created a puddle using Murky tint but once the resin hardened, the puddle wasn’t as murky as I would have liked. I took some tint this morning and rubbed it on the hardened resin with a cotton tip. When the tint dried, it made a very convincing puddle, appearing more opaque than translucent.
