A few "Corn Syrup" schemes that could be possible...

A couple of misc comments... 1. There are some schemes that could work for the beer cars that haven't been done, if there are still cars available to decorate. (Various BN/ATSF/BNSF schemes, Manufacturer's Railway, and CryoTrans, and possibly others) 2. Please make some cases and packaging for single issues of the FCA Autoracks that you can send to dealers...it seems like there is still plenty of stock and some of us would buy one or two of the Canadian roads.)

About the only freight car I yearn for is the drop-bottom sugar beet cars: espee.railfan.net/sp_fcss-24.htmlpreferably capable of accepting the wooden extensions. Back in the day when the U.S. actually produced it's own sugar, this time of year were the "Sugar Campaigns" with mile long trains of the cars running up and down California and east of the Rockies from Texas to Montana hauling beets to the refiners. After all, we have syrup tanks, and where does their contents come from?

Thanks for your lists and ideas. They really are helpful to see what you guys are interested in, and they do influence our production plans.
While we can’t make everything, I am happy to say that there are a few items on this thread that are already in development- just not quite ready for an announcement.
Stay tuned and keep the ideas coming. I think the next 12 months are going to be really good times for Z scale.

I can't comment on the specific details of each road's needs, it is great to have not only the variety of rolling stock but the focus on each roads specific detail actually produced! Whether you run a unit train or mixed freight, it is great not only for us at home, but also what the public sees.

I would appreceate more frightcars from the 50ths and 60ths: Tank cars, more modern than the MTL ones, Open Autocarrier TOFC early equipment

Thinking about what both Jeff and Texrail have said, the scale could really use cars appropriate for unit trains common in the 1950s-60s. MTL has produced several of the car types needed, but rarely in the quantities needed to build a believable.
I've already spoke of the sugar beet cars, but they were just seasonal.
The open auto rack trains were big around the auto assembly plants. These cars can be produced with and without loads (cars and pickups) and the easy variant of adding the corrugated panels to the sides that started popping in the late 50s.
The piggyback trains were also very common, both single and double trailer flat car versions. SP had their "Golden Pig" service and I seem to recall ATSF was "papoose".
The only examples we have of these cars in Z are single loose approximations from Marklin.
I also support the tanks cars, particularly from companies as Standard Oil, Union Oil and Sinclair.
Finally the stock/dispatch cars. By DOT rules these were always unit trains. The most interesting ones were the bi-level cars for small livestock such as pigs. I seem to recall they had a unique dutch door arrangement/
Of course the big risk for all of these is a matter of interest. They seem to get no respect by modelers in any scale. I would be interested in 8 packs of the tank, piggyback and auto carriers, at least initially. Maybe of members could post their interests.

I agree that some 50's/60's freight cars are in order. Especially now that the Alco's have hit, there will likely be some growth in Z-scale for those interested in that era.
I'm not familiar enough with that timeframe to know what would be popular, but one could look to N-scale offerings as a guide...you have to figure that at least some very cursory market research was done to know if a particular model would be in demand or not. Whether that would translate to Z or not is another matter, but that's where I would start anyway. I do have some old MR articles talking about polls for what freight car was most wanted....in HO....in the 70s. But might be a fun discussion if I can dig it up.

I’d like discussing the 50s and 60s at least from a Northern California aspect if others are interested. I would also like to hear about other areas of the country as I only got east and south of Denver once and never east of the Mississippi.
